In the movie, there is many jaw dropping moments that gives disability a negative connotation. In the movie, the producer takes people with disability in the context of being helpless and has being freaks in the film. For instance many of the characters have disabilities, which is showcased to the public for entertainment because of their disability. To add on, the character are part of the circus, which gives the freak factor to their disability when they are being showcased. Also in the film, women are seen as objects that manipulate others for their benefit. There is many offensive content in the film which are totally wrong in my opinion. In the film, the able-body characters are seen as gods that mock and laugh at the people with disabilities. What enraged me the most about the film, that the producer made it seem like people with disabilities are monsters that hide under stairs like a mythical creature. I notices that most class rooms are not suited for people with mobile disabilities. I also noticed that there is not enough elevators for people with mobile disabilities to use to get to different floors on campus. To include there is not enough signs on campus where every elevator is located. In addition many of the tables on campus are too high for people with mobile disabilities, and many doors are very narrow to fit mobile equipment. From noticing the different oppressions that DH hold against the disability community, there is many campus like DH that offer limited access to people with disabilities. I learned from walking around, that higher education needs to focus on fixing the accessibility on every campus to gain equality to every single student on every single campus.
