Insulin was discovered by a Canadian man named Frederick Banting. Banting was born on 14th November 1891, in the town Allison, Ontario. He was the youngest of five children. He studied Divinity in University but soon dropped out to study medicine (“Frederick G. Banting- Biographical”). He graduated with a Bachelor's degree in medicine (“Frederick G. After graduating from university, he joined the Canadian Army Corps and fought in the First World War. He was awarded the Military Cross when the war ended for his bravery and determination under fire(“Sir Frederick Banting”). After the war ended, he became a medical practitioner for a short time.
