Subject: French and Norwegian’s culture differences
1.0 Introduction
The aim of this report is to report about why French business people are accustomed to more discipline on the job than Norwegians.
2.0 Differences between French and Norwegian business culture
Norwegians tend to operate business in informal form like come to office in jean and T-shirt but French consider that there is high importance in appearance that they even matter detail like color and overpowering accessories. They usually wear formal wear and do not loosen ties or remove jackets in the office.
Besides, Norwegians usually have much more vacation and relatively longer parental leave compare to other Europe countries. They have more time for their family. Apart from that, French are likely to work more and business comes first when compare to family.
Furthermore, most of the Norwegians are transactional and do not need a long term relationship to carry out business activities but they are likely prefer to do business with people that they trust. On the other hand, French count connection heavily in business.
Additionally, Norwegians are particular about time. A phone call or notification is necessary if there is any reason causing lateness and meeting usually ended in time as scheduled. In a meanwhile, 15-20 minutes delay is normal for French but they tend to last longer as scheduled.
3.0 Conclusion
As mentioned, Norwegians are generally practice transactional relationship in business. They are also tends to informal but punctuality is vital. On the other hand, French are most likely to be more formal in appearance and practice masculine cultures, but they are flexible on time.
4.0 Recommendation
In order to cooperate with Norwegians, I suggest that company can provide uniform or dress code so that everyone will wear it or follow the dress code to avoid informal wear like jeans. Longer vacation and parental leave are legally
