As Batman, he is focused on simply seeking an out to justify and fill the hole from the loss of his parents. Bruce’s parents needed to die in order for Batman to be born. Although he might play on the rough side, he does know there is a line, and that line he doesn't cross we see an example, as Batman is on a balcony with a couple of robbers. Batman is holding one off the edge of the balcony. With the man dangling, Batman realizes he is no killer had pulled the man up to safety. Batman is also not in fear to show superiority as he interrupts a dinner at the mayor's mansion as he cuts the power, and there's a smoke bomb into the room.
