Gandhian Religion- A way of life
Mahatma Gandhi is known as the father of India. He is remembered not as the freedom fighter but as the one who led India on the path of Independence. He is remembered for the contribution and devotion towards mankind. Gandhian Religion is comprised of three important principles: Nonviolence, Faith and Truth, which are also the hallmarks of Gandhian Doctrine. Many years have gone by but the luster of the Gandhian Religion remains undimmed. Invading forces have descended on India but Gandhi's ideals have remained indestructible. The Gandhian religion is not merely for India, but for the whole world as these principles are universally applicable and the Gandhian philosophy is not only essential for the rebirth of the Indian nation but also for the re-education of the human race. The Gandhian religion, which is concerned with spiritual development is marked by the obsolescence of the materialistic civilization.
Nonviolence is the greatest weapon against violence and also protects one’s self-respect and sense of honor. So its important for a human being to know the power of nonviolence, to learn it and to apply it in the life. It is becoming clear that at this dangerous moment in human history, the only hope for mankind is Mahatma Gandhi's principle of non-violence. According to me, Gandhiji’s message of non violence did not mean complete absence of violence, but also loving concern for all life. Gandhiji even developed a method of direct action called satyagarha(truth-force) based on the principle of non violence, truth and courage. Learning non violence is not a child’s play because it requires lots of patience. One who is learning non violence must learn to keep patience because it requires lot of patience in oneself, and it calls for acceptance of intense sufferings when it is being applied.
