Gangsta Rap Subcultures

During 80’s and 90’s, inequalities between white people and colored people was extremely high. People used to get mistreated and abused by the authority because of their skin color. White people were dominant majorities of that time and colored were minorities. The injustice occurred many riots because police used to violently abuse colored people but they never got punished for it. As a result, people used to held event on the streets for prevention against these injustices. Gradually they became more violent, and it made police to play an aggressive role to block them. The subculture I selected, gangsta rap, tried to resist these inequalities between majority and minority group of people by raising their strong voice against authority. The
Besides this, lyrics and graphicness are the other elements of this subculture. Gangsta rappers used every sort of language to show their anger against the authority because of the freedom of speech. They used profanity in the lyrics, and gun in the video to show the hatred for the police that they had. Another essential thing that they used in gangsta rap is the life story of gangs. Lyrically every rappers used to act like they were living gangsters’ lives. But actually not all of them were gangsters because some of them just talked about the life they were usual with, not the life that they lived. Not every colored people got beaten by the police, but most of them were mistreated by the police. Some rappers rapped about others life but pretended as they spoke about their own life. These elements effected our society negatively because the riotous background sound attracted its listener to listen this kind of music which was engaged with a chaotic situation and as day passed by, people became more interested to listen noisy sound which signifies a tumultuous situation. Secondly, the language they used in their lyrics had a huge impact on the educational field because the listener of the gangsta rap music was mostly black youth students at first but as time passed, people of all races started listening gangsta rap. Their lyrics motivated young students to take a part in ruthless nature and they started mimic what they see in the video. The use of profanity in the lyrics caused students to curse in the school. Also, using guns in the video made the students to bring guns in the school. People were very curious about his kind of music because it was new in that time. People wanted to be gangsters because in some gangsta rap, rappers talked about how they became rich very quickly. By using these elements rappers made more listeners
