Gary Ridgway was once thought of as “country’s deadliest convicted serial killer.” Ridgway was born February 18, 1949 in Salt Lake City, Utah. he was married three times to three different women. Him and his second wife had a son named Matthew. Ridgway claims he murdered at least 80 women, yet he was only charged with 48 separate counts of murder.
Growing up life wasn't so easy for Ridgway. Ridgway had two brothers, Gregory Lean and Thomas Edward. Gary Ridgway had a specific way of killing his victims. He would get a female prostitute or a runaway bring them to a ghost location, and come up behind them choking them until death. After he was done he dumped their bodies by the green river lake, this giving him the name “The Green River Killer.” Since the police could not do a DNA match at the time it was difficult for them to catch Ridgway, giving Ridgway time to think about how to play smart. Ridgway was brought to the police station, for prostitution related charges, and put through interrogation. The police then did a polygraph test (lie detector test) and ridgway passed. Soon in 2001 the new advancement in technology was able to match Ridgways DNA to the semen in the crime
