Gatorade—It’s A Way of Life
During the summer of 1965, a University of Florida assistant football coach set up a meeting with the university physicians. Most of his players were playing poorly as a result of the heat. Coach wanted them to try and figure out why so many of his players were being affected by heat and heat related illnesses and in result were suffering from dehydration. The doctors soon realized that two key factors were to blame for causing the Gator players to overheat--the fluids and electrolytes lost through sweat were not being replaced, and the large amounts of carbohydrates the players were using for energy were not being replenished. After working in the lab the doctors finally created a carbohydrate-electrolyte beverage that kept the players hydrated and energized to play while in the heat. Gatorade is formulated to rehydrate and replenish fluid, carbohydrates and electrolytes as well as to "quench your thirst." According to Wikipedia, "Gatorade is the official sports drink of NASCAR, the NFL, MLB, NBA, WNBA, USA Basketball, NHL, Association of Volleyball Professionals, US Soccer Federation, Major League Soccer, High School Sports Teams, and the Chelsea F.C. in the UK." It's no wonder why so many people choose it as their go-to drink. I make sure to always have at least one case at my house. Not only do I use it when working out and playing sports, but it also helps me feel better when I get sick. When you begin to feel your energy slipping, Gatorade is an excellent choice to help pick yourself back
