Cause And Effect Essay On Gatorade Experiment
You are in the middle of the basketball court, and a sweat slowly runs down your cheeks. You are tired from running back and forth, jumping up and down, and passing the basketball to different players, but the thing is, it is barely the first quarter. Before the game had started, you had ingested a bottle of coke, but was that the right decision? Could have drinking something else make you a better player? Most importantly, which beverage helps your athletic performance the most? If you drink different beverages before exercising, then you will do better with Gatorade. In this experiment, the independent variables are the different types of beverages that will be used. The dependant variables (the variables influenced by the different beverages) is the running time (the time that the person will run in one lap), the amount of pushups done in one minute, how many sit-ups is completed by two minutes, and the number of jumping jacks that are done in thirty seconds. I believe that Gatorade will help your athletic performance the most, therefore the other drinks such as water, Arizona Tea, milk, Mott’s Apple Juice, and Coca-Cola is the control group. The controlled variables in the experiment (items that will stay the same) is …show more content…
Robert Cade from the University of Florida in 1965. He had discovered that the athletes of a losing team were weak because of two main things that were not being replaced because of sweat, electrolytes and fluids. (Note 1.) Electrolytes help your brain control your muscles and body fluids, and when the main electrolytes are lost with the sweat, it delays communication. (Note 2) In a Gatorade Thirst Quencher there is 160 mg Sodium/ 45 mg Potassium to replace the sodium and potassium that has been lost. It also contains 21g of carbs, with 80 calories. (Note 7) When doing any type of physical activity, it is important to make sure that you are hydrated. You want to avoid nausea, fatigueness, dizziness, etc. (Note

The independent variable is the color of the ink. The dependent variable is the time it takes to identify the color of the ink. The constants are the list of words and the stopwatch. There was no control for this experiment. The observations I made proved the hypothesis wrong. I repeated the procedure with 18 different people. On my data table, everyone had a faster time on the first set of words. The second set of words took them longer to identify. On my graph it really shows that everyone got a faster time the first time rather than the second. Gender and age did not affect the…

Millions of people drink sports drinks like Gatorade everyday, But very few people actually know what ingredients make up their favorite sports drink. Gatorade was thought up in 1965 by an assistant coach of the Florida Gators at the University of Florida and his team of physicians who wanted to create something to help his players deal with the heat of the Florida sun. They created a concoction they deemed “Gatorade”, named after the team of course. The beverage set out to replenish not only the fluids they lost on the field but the carbohydrates and electrolytes. After they instituted this drink the team began out doing their opponents in the heat and ended the season 7-3, But the question here is not “Does gatorade work?”…

Gatorade is formulated to rehydrate and replenish fluid, carbohydrates and electrolytes as well as to "quench your thirst." According to Wikipedia, "Gatorade is the official sports drink of NASCAR, the NFL, MLB, NBA, WNBA, USA Basketball, NHL, Association of Volleyball Professionals, US Soccer Federation, Major League Soccer, High School Sports Teams, and the Chelsea F.C. in the UK." It's no wonder why so many people choose it as their go-to drink. I make sure to always have at least one case at my house. Not only do I use it when working out and playing sports, but it also helps me feel better when I get sick. When you begin to feel your energy slipping, Gatorade is an excellent choice to help pick yourself back…

Then, our eye sent a message to the visual cortex, which sent a message to the motor cortex. The motor cortex sent a message to the spinal cord. The spinal cord sent a message to the muscles in our hand/fingers. Finally, our muscles contract to allow us to catch the ruler. Our brain and spinal cord make up our central nervous system. Our brain communicates with your muscles via the spinal cord using a form of electrical current (called action potential). In order to achieve quicker reaction times, the brain has to be able move information faster through the spine to reach the muscles. Sports drinks affect the rate of reaction because sport drink contains sodium and potassium so by drink the sport drink it increases sodium and potassium content on the extracellular matrix of neurons so that when an impulse goes through the neuron, there is a greater electrical gradient between the inside and outside of the axon, promoting faster diffusion. It also helps in restoring the original balance of the electron gradient, so it would allow one to fire neurons more quickly with a shorter "recharge" period.…
