Gay Discrimination
Discrimination against gays is a current issue. People are being denied services, receiving abuse, and not granted marriage to the samesex by reason of their sexual orientation. Human beings should not be discrimination over their sexual orientation, same as, people shouldn’t be discrimination over their ethnic background.
There are many people who are being denied services because of their sexual orientation.
“Last year, investigators concluded the bakers had violated the couple’s rights to equal treatment in places that serve the public.” (Starnes, "Christian Bakers Face Government Wrath for
Refusing to Make Cake for Gay Wedding."). Religious people should not be able to deny services to those who don’t have the same beliefs. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion ,but they are not allowed to deny services no matter what their opinion is. “The owner of a flower shop in Washington who denied service to a gay couple is being sued for violating the state's consumer protection laws that prohibit discrimination based on sexual orientation.”(Zimmerman,
"Washington Florist Who Denied Service to Gay Couple Over Her 'Relationship with Jesus'
Sued by the State."). Discrimination is not acceptable in Washington, therefore, they can be sued for not abiding by this law.
Homosexual, bisexual, and transgender teenagers are being physically, social, cyberbullying and verbally abuse based on their sexual orientation. (Hhs., “Bullying Among
Hammett2
Children and Youth on Perceptions and Differences in Sexual Orientation”). “Children and youth who identify themselves as lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT), or are perceived to be so, can face unrelenting teasing and bullying by their peers.” Teenagers are being treated cruelly because of their choice to be different. Other teenagers aren’t comfortable with themselves and they feel the need to judge others. There are teenagers who are committing selfharm and suicide, due to the fact, they are being bullied. “ GLB kids face many of the same obstacles as earlier generations: poor selfesteem, family rejection, stigma, social isolation, selfharm, and risky behavior.” (Roffman, "Gay, Lesbian and Bisexual Teens: Facing Challenges and Building Resilience”).Teenagers are losing selfconfidence based on other teenagers who do not believe in their sexual preferences. Teenagers do not feel comfortable around people because they do not want to be judge. Some teens encounter rejection from their family because their family might have religious beliefs that it is wrong. Also, teens perform dangerous behaviors because they do not feel important.
In several states, samesex marriage is against the law. "A marriage contracted between individuals of the same sex is invalid in this state," he wrote.” ( Leitsinger, "Alabama's Top
Judge: SameSex Marriage Is Illegal in State."). It is not right to not marry two people because of their sexual orientation. They should be able to marry if they have the same connection as a heterosexual couple. A couple shouldn’t be able to be kept from marrying because of a state law.
The law should be a federal law if it is that serious of a complication. “A federal appeals court in
Denver struck down a second state ban on samesex marriage Friday, ruling that Oklahoma like Utah before it cannot prohibit gays and lesbians from marrying.” (Wolf, "Appeals Court
Strikes down Oklahoma Gay Marriage Ban."). Not all states can prohibit gays and lesbians from

marrying. Marriage should not only be a union of one man and one woman, if two people love each samesex or not they should be able to marry.
Discrimination is fallacious against any person because of their beliefs and preferences.
There are people who are currently fighting against discrimination. People shouldn’t be judge as they walk out of their door because others don’t believe in the way they are living. Most people don’t realize they are hurting gay individuals with the words or actions.

In a political atmosphere where homosexuality has become trendy, and those opposing it citing religious freedom are criticized, a debate has arisen between parties both for and against this exercise of religious freedom. Issues stem from the applications of personal religious freedom and their applications to business. This position has become increasingly difficult for courts to rule on, especially given the supreme court ruling on the legalization of same sex marriage which pushed this debate on religious freedom into the living room of America and out of court. The debate has captivated the interests of individuals in the US, even those without strong feelings for or against, given the conundrum that has arisen between the clash of religious freedom and personal expression. The question remains, should the views of an individual entitle them to discriminate when when conducting business with another, and in a union founded upon the separation between…

Furthermore, Boyd and Marwick believe that adults should not only provide the resources but realize “recovery is a long and difficult process.” (363). A great deal of thought, preparation, and understanding needs to take place to help stop the bullying situation. “The key is to help young people feel independently strong, confident and capable without first requiring them to see themselves as either an oppressed person or an oppressor.” (Boyd and Marwick 363). It’s difficult to choose which type of discrimination needs the most immediate attention, especially on a world scale, as there are so many forms of prejudice and many I am unaware of .With the ones I do know about it’s difficult to choose the one that creates the most harm. Is the discrimination against women the most damaging as they are a significant part of our population? Should we address the violence against them and the economic and social repression? Should we address the strain of nationalism and anti-immigrant rhetoric that is abundant in countries like the U.S and Britain? Should we address the discrimination against people of the Islāmic faith or those of the LGBTQ community?…

Until, recently people who were a part of the LGBT community were not allowed to publicly declare their sexuality. Although there has been a huge breakthrough providing equality for people in this community with the Supreme Court ruling gay marriage to be allowed in all 50 states, there are still countless stories of discrimination based on sexual orientation in the United States. “The U.S. Supreme Court’s historic ruling establishing nationwide marriage equality masks a stark and persistent reality: a patchwork of state and local non-discrimination laws continues to leave millions of LGBT Americans - including those who are legally married - without reliable protections from discrimination on the basis of gender identity and sexual orientation, according to a report released today by HRC.” There have been multiple cases of businesses denying service to members of the LGBT community for interfering with their religious beliefs. Even our “GOP frontrunner Donald Trump pledged that, if elected, he would appoint justices who would reverse the landmark Supreme Court decision establishing marriage equality nationwide.” So where do we draw the line between religious beliefs and infringing upon the rights of others? If we have already declared that it is lawful for people to express their sexuality in a certain manner, then it is only fair that they be treated with the same respect and acceptance of the American people that they deserve. This issue has been suppressed for years and the people who have been hiding in the shadows deserve to see the light of…

The entire population is made up of a variety of different races, religions, colors, and beliefs. The gay population has also become more popular in the world today, the population that is looked down upon by the rest of society. In the texts: Second Inaugural Address by Abraham Lincoln, “What to the Slave Is the Fourth of July” by Frederick Douglass, and Declaration of Sentiments by Elizabeth Cady Stanton it talks about equal rights for everyone no matter the difference of color, belief, or person you are. Even though being gay is not supported because it is stated in the bible, gays still deserve the same rights as any other person and deserve proper treatment from the rest of society, as well as protection from the law.…

Imagine that you are a thirteen year crying in your bed because you are dreading facing another day at school because you are being bullied. Nowadays, this is more common than ever before. For far too many teens this is a daily reality. According to the ASPCC (American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children) there are over 160,000 students in America who stay home from school every day because they are fearful of the mental and physical abuse from their classmates (1). The ASPCC defines bullying as a direct attack on a child’s status, sense of belonging and core identity and more times than not leads to low self-esteem (2). 1 out of 4 children are bullied every day (3). Bullying in any shape, form or fashion must be stopped so that our children can have a fighting chance.…
