Gender Differences Between Sexual Orientation And Gender Identity
Sexual orientation can be used to describe the desire that a specific person feels toward one gender or the other, or both. Examples of sexual orientation include straight, gay, lesbian, or bisexual. Sexual orientation also refers to the fact that our sexual preferences are predetermined biologically, meaning that when we are born, we are already programed in a specific way that will allow us to have a desire for one gender or the other. Sexual orientation is very different from gender identity in that gender identity is the way we feel about our gender. Gender identity can be thought of by how we express our masculinity or femininity. Therefore, gender identity refers to whether or not a person feels as though they are a female, or whether
