Culture is something that has set people apart ever since the beginning of time. The human race seems to have an extreme superiority complex which makes everyone compete very harshly to be the very best; however, it is not just people of different cultures competing, people compete with others who come from the same background and share the same culture as them. Rather than people supporting each other and celebrating cultures of all kinds, racism and separation have …show more content…
become a sort of modern 'culture'. Something that once added uniqueness and more individualism to styles of life, can now be what makes life more difficult and, in some cases, even unsafe. When religion is brought into the subject of culture, it can be a dangerous game for those who are "outside" of the social normalities. Today in America, muslims tend targeted for hate crimes due to their religion and people (white people mostly) act prejudicially towards muslims and express extreme dislike towards their religion. Freedom of religion should be something that we embrace and allow everyone to pursue; however, there are people who refuse to accept that not everyone fits into a mold of 'religious purity'. When race is brought into view, racism is still thriving in America. Segregation is still well alive.
Language doesn't only separate people from different countries and areas of the world, but it separates people of the same background and county due to stereotypes. There are stereotypes amongst African American men that tends to influence them to talk and act a certain way, they exclude other African Americans man who don't fit the stereotype enough. "Insert quote from the barbershop article". This creates struggles in their own communities such as gangs or exclusion of people in neighborhoods or places of business. Gangs tend to be extremely violent and they commit a majority of crimes in some towns. They can be a danger to the public and affect public safety.
Gender is something that is currently a huge problem in modern society.
Before today's issues, involving non-binary and transgender people, there was a gender war between men and women. Men were overly superior to women and women were fighting for equality. Women are still fighting for this today. Now there is also a struggle for non-binary and transgender people. Non-binary means that people place their gender identity in a category for that is for gender identities that are not exclusively masculine or feminine. "Transgender is denoting or relating to a person whose sense of personal identity and gender does not correspond with their birth sex," (Wikipedia). Transgender and non-binary people are fighting to be better accepted into society. They want to be treated more equally in society.
Society needs to be working together to create and more unified and equal life for everyone, regardless of cultures, languages and
genders.
