Aviation snip also known as shears, are hand tools used to cut sheet metal and other tough webs. There are two broad categories: tinner's snips, which are similar to common scissors, and compound-action snips, which use a compound leverage handle system to increase the mechanical advantage.

Blade shears consist of two blades arranged similarly to scissors except that the hinge is at the end farthest from the point (not in the middle). The cutting edges pass each other as the shearer squeezes them together and shear the wool close to the animal's skin.

Ruler, sometimes called a rule or line gauge, is an instrument used in geometry, technical drawing, printing as well as engineering and building to measure distances or to rule straight lines.

Divider, instrument for measuring, transferring, or marking off distances, consisting of two straight adjustable legs hinged together and ending in sharp points. It is used principally in drafting for the accurate transfer of dimensions from a measuring scale and in machine shops for scribing lines on surfaces, usually machined, with dimensions taken from a ruler.

Pneumatic drill - a power drill powered by compressed air.

A rivet gun, also known as a pneumatic hammer is a type of tool used to drive rivets. Nearly all rivet guns are pneumatically powered. The rivet gun is used on the manufactured head side of the rivet and a bucking bar is used on the buck-tail side of the rivet. Those rivet guns used to drive rivets in structural steel are quite large while those used in aircraft assembly are easily held in one hand. A rivet gun differs from an air hammer in the precision of the driving force.

Rubber mallets are used when a softer blow is called for than that delivered by a metal hammer. They are typically used to form sheet metal, since they don't leave marks and are softer, as well as for forcing tight-fitting parts together, for shifting plasterboard into place, in upholstery, and a variety of other

Letting the children cut by themselves lets them have independence and helps them to develop their fine motor skills. Once the children had finished using the scissors one of them put the scissor blades near their fingers. This child was advised to remove the scissors away from their fingers and was told that this is not allowed to happen. This is so that they will understand that doing this is dangerous.…

Surveyors often use triangulation to measure distance. Starting at a known location and elevation, surveyors measure a length to create a base line and then use a theodolite to measure an angle to an unknown pint from each side of the base line (Jains, 2012, pp. 30-48). The length of the base line and the two known angles allow a computer or person to determine the location of a third point.…

Leaf Cutter bees actions are quite distinct. When approaching a shelter it can look very intimidating because of how there is approximately twenty thousand Leaf Cutter bees flying or as I would like to call working, in a shelter. Leaf Cutters; are very relaxed. They will not touch anyone unless the person is cooler than the temperature outside so they can use our skin to cool off. They can hurt you if they start to feel as though they are threatened. The only way a Leaf cutter could feel threatened as if I were to make it seem as if they were getting squished, either being in your clothing or actually sitting on them. If that were to happen the Leaf Cutter would bite with their pincers, until it is completely released from either the clothing or the person gets up in a real hurry.…

Three types of powers that were designed to different levels of government in The Constitution are enumerated powers, implied powers, and reserved powers. Enumerated powers are powers specifically delegated to the congress by the US Constitution. They are listed in Article 1, Section 8. These powers affect the distribution of powers between state and national governments because enumerated powers are strictly given to congress/National government which mean only they can exercise these powers. This also means that the states can’t exercise these powers. An example of an enumerated power is to create and write new federal laws. Concurrent powers are powers that are delegated to both the state and national governments. These powers allow the national and state government to share some powers and are allowed to do some of the same things. These things include the power to tax, make roads, borrow money, and the power to make lowers courts. Reserved powers are powers in The Constitution specifically reserved to the states. The powers are listed in The Constitution and in the Bill Of Rights (10th Amendment). These powers affect the distribution of powers between the state and national governments because only the states can exercise the powers listed. An example of a reserved power is to create state highways.…

Solid rivets are one of the oldest and most reliable types of fasteners, having been found in archaeological findings dating back to the Bronze Age. Solid rivets consist simply of a shaft and head that are deformed with a hammer or rivet gun. A rivet compression or crimping tool can also deform this type of rivet. This tool is mainly used on rivets close to the edge of the fastened material, since the tool is limited by the depth of its frame. A rivet compression tool does not require two people, and is generally the most foolproof way to install solid rivets.…

    Design of Pliers

    • 1254 Words

The analysis of these pliers is going to depend heavily on the choice and use of materials. A basic understanding of material selection is in order. Most structural engineering materials in use today are metal or metal alloys. Metals are an incredibly versatile material because their properties range so far in many aspects. For example when high strength is needed there are some metals that have a huge load bearing capability, and when deflection is desired in a design there are some metals with a high modulus of elasticity. Of course all is a balance; there is not one single material that is lightweight, high modulus of elasticity, high strength, etc. But it is an engineers’ job to choose the material that will suit his design the best. For example in this project the team was looking for a material that had a very high tensile strength but a high level of toughness, in order to have toughness one needs a material that has some deformation. A very hard and brittle material is not ideal in a design like this one. Obviously a material with a high modulus of elasticity would help with the brittle problem, but it would deflect and yield far too much under loading. For this reason the team decided to use the material L2 Low-Alloy Tool Steel. It has a high enough level of tensile strength to withstand the loading a human can exert on the plier handles,…
