Genetic Disorders: Down Syndrome
I will begin to explain the genetic disorder called Down syndrome. Down syndrome is a type of set that can cause intellectual and physical symptoms, the result start from having an extra chromosome 21 or an extra piece of that chromosome. Did you know that it is the most common chromosomal cause moderate intellectual disabilities in the diagnosed person? Moreover, people with Down syndrome also have some distinct physical features that affect their bodies, such as a retarded flat looking face. Furthermore, the diagnosed people are at risk for a number of other health conditions and diseases. The extra chromosome is due to nondisjunction, which is when a pair of chromosomes does not separate properly during formation.
Factually, there is no
known type of medical treatments for Down syndrome even in this present moment. Maybe someday in the near-future scientist might find a cure for this disease, but tell then the only way the disease can be slightly diagnosed or treated are created based on each diagnosed individual's physical and intellectual ability, as well as his or her physical strengths and intellectual needs. A Person, with Down syndrome can receive proper care from specialist in a hospital or even at home with his/her parents!
