Genetically modified food has many advantages, but with every advantage follows a disadvantage. GM foods grow at a much faster pace than organic foods, but they can be harmful to the environment. Inorganic foods are sold in large quantities for a low cost, while organic food for being sold in smaller quantities for a larger price. The price difference is apparent due to the difference in the method of production between the two types of foods. The inorganic foods consist of many chemicals which cause the food to grow faster. These chemicals have been proven to be harmful to the human body, unlike organic foods which are healthier, and grown at a natural and normal pace, in the soil with no added pesticides. An example to the health risks involved is cancer. Studies have been done by several different institutions and they have all found that the chemicals involved in the production of genetically modified foods can at times be cancerous, and not only for the human but for many animals involved in genetic modifications. Studies have even shown that when an animal, for example fish, are genetically modified they can cause harm to the environment. A GM fish that is mixed with real fish will eventually mate and reproduce. The fishes being reproduced will have so many mixed hormones which can cause their death, and eventually if mating continues between the two different “breeds”, fish will become extinct.
Similar to GM foods, organic foods do consist of some disadvantages, even though they are healthier
