GMOs
As a young child parents do not monitor the intake of the types of foods children ingest. As a child my aunt Nicole Jager would always be baking some sort of sugary foods for my other cousins and I. Children will never care what they ingest as long as whatever it is they are consuming with their mouth taste great. Going along with this children do not monitor their own health or even their own personal hygiene. Growing up I know my cousin Jake and I never gave two cares in the world about what we were eating. Halloween was probably the greatest night ever as a child. All the free candy anyone could ever dream of and it was all for consumptions whenever a child was ready to sit down and begin engulfing large amounts of sugar and fats. Looking back my cousin Jake, many of my friends, and I all now have a very strong grasp of what our food contains and why it is people end up obese, sick, and even cause corruption in their genetic make-up. Sometime in the near future I plan on being a parent myself. With today’s food selection though I will be watching and picking carefully through the many types of foods I decide to feed my children because of the existence of genetically modified organisms (GMO) in our everyday foods. Coming up in the world this is not a very broad topic because of its lack of research revealed to the public. GMOs is a very large income source for food companies and even our very own government. I am also very concerned about their impact on human, animal, and environmental health, both now and in the future. Because GMOs are harmful, we should not be consuming them, but instead taking action to have them eradicated. First off a GMO is defined as “an organism whose genetic characteristics have been
