Geol Chapter 13
The chapter 13 to Chapter 15 in the book-“THE GOAL” described a little story that the author took his son to participate in a hike with other fifteen boys. Surprisingly, the troop-master did not show up due to the sickness. The author instead of him to be taken in charge this troop consists of sixteen boys included his son of course. The aim of this hiking is to arrive the Devil’s Gulch where they could make the tent. This distance from the place they stand to the destination is about ten miles away. At the very beginning, the author lined them up and required them to follow the trail at the rate of two miles per hour. They started from 8:30 am and hopefully could be there at 3:00pm without sweat. During the process of hiking, the author found …show more content…
In the process of hiking, the author always found out some gaps exist in the line and the rate of walking of each boy is different. The reason that this situation might happen was that each one must stay behind the one in the front of you. Ron as a leader, others should stay behind him that means Ron controls the speed of the marching. The author discovered that this situation could be called “ dependent events” just the same happened in the plant. The operations are supposed to be following the sequence that means the second operation could be started until the first operation finished. Except the “dependent event”, the author found out the statistical fluctuation also can be analogy between the hiking and plant. The author regulated at the rate of two miles per hour to walk that does not meaning of they have to be walk two miles per hour. The rate could be fluctuated as long as the average of rate is two miles per hour. The same thing happens in the plant. After the author adjusted the team, they start out again. After a while, the author found out the gap between them was expanding again although they tried to keep the same rate and

The Pilgrim’s Progress is a bizarre but timeless allegorical tale of young Christian, and later his family, who journeys away from his home to find salvation in the Celestial City. On this journey, our hero seems to endure outwardly physical but internally allegorical challenges signifying the trials, tribulations, and temptations any Christian may meet on the harrowing road to Heaven or salvation. He meets various characters named after the characteristics they represent that help him or deter him from his path. In a way, this story represents the journey of an ordinary Christian throughout his or her life. The story was written in two parts—the first, telling of Christian’s journey, and the second, telling of his family’s journey through the same path. This book has never been out of print since it was written in 1678 by John Bunyan, an English Christian writer and preacher.…

It was cold; he went back into the school to get a sweater.…

The Journey Devin was the last to leave the gym that night as usual. He walked out the old creaky gym and felt a gust of cold wind as he stepped onto the streets of inner city Chicago. He trudged his way home through the snow, while he was hindered by his bookbag which he knew he would never open. In the distance, he could hear the shrill hum of police sirens which he had long ago become accustomed to. His legs ached from the many hours he had spent in the gym that night.…

The travellers were on a journey on their way to the top of the high passes of the Himalayas which would take them about 2 days in total to achieve. The ethical dilemma that was presented to the travellers was the unexpected presence of the sadhu left to cold bearing close to nothing on his skin in need of help while –for the travellers- still having to reach the top before the bright sun melted the snow. At the point where the helpless was found, it would have taken about 2 more days to carry him all the way down to the village for nursing assistance; in their best individualist attempt, they each and every one contributed to their convenience (enough not to become an inconvenience). The New Zealander offered his hand by bringing him down to their attention of the porters and Sherpa guides while Bowen took a carotid pulse and found out he (sadhu) was still alive. Stephen and the four Swiss proceeded by offering…

The short story is mainly set in the wilderness with a landscape that is wide open and filled with hills, grass and ancient rocks. This can be seen in the following example, “[…] the brow of the hill and the grass lightning up, bright yellow. Ancient rocks glint […]” (p 9, l. 75-76). The plot is about a young boy, who has been caught in his parent’s separation. The boy’s father has arranged a camping trip, but the mother is strictly against it. The story is told by a third person narrator, where we see it from the boy’s point of view. This can be seen in this quote, “Two torches are for father and son to back each other up. The man has swung up the car-boot door” (p. 8, ll. 70-71). The short story is divided into two parts, whereas one contains the present time with the camping trip itself, and the other half contains a few flashbacks. The flashbacks illustrate the preparation of the camping trip. To demonstrate that, I will use this quote, “Coming downstairs after finding his torch […]” (p 7, l. 18).…
