George Washington was the oldest of six children from his father's second marriage. He was born February 22, 1732 at Wakefield Plantation, VA. When he was sixteen he joined a surveying party sent out to the Shenandoah Valley by Lord Fairfax. George Washington lost his father when he was only eleven years old. His half brother Lawrence who served in the Royal Navy influenced him to wanna be in the Navy but his mom discouraged it. Later on he went to began his Military career, he was a general in the continental army later in his life. He helped out in the French and Indian war which was one of the first times he saw action.
