George Washington's Informative Speech
George Washington was one of the delegates that attended The Constitutional Convention, and then later became the first president of the United States of America. He was a delegate from Virginia, who was famous among the people. He was persuaded to go to the convention. According to documents he didn’t say much but he was a big influence. Everyone thought he was such a good general and overall person and some looked up to him.
George Washington was the oldest of six children from his father's second marriage. He was born February 22, 1732 at Wakefield Plantation, VA. When he was sixteen he joined a surveying party sent out to the Shenandoah Valley by Lord Fairfax. George Washington lost his father when he was only eleven years old. His half brother Lawrence who served in the Royal Navy influenced him to wanna be in the Navy but his mom discouraged it. Later on he went to began his Military career, he was a general in the continental army later in his life. He helped out in the French and Indian war which was one of the first times he saw action. He didn’t wanna go because he didn’t want people to think he was a power greedy man. Washington was very concerned on his reputation and how it was perceived by others. It was written that he only spoke once towards the end. Some records say he was an influence on the scope and direction of the discussions. He was unanimously elected the president of the convention by the others. This job fit George Washington’s personality and self. He kept the arguments in order and when they weren’t in session he toured the city with two slaves. He was also present when they signed the constitution. Keeping the balance he was stated to be a great leader during the
