Introduction
The Geothermal is a clean and sustainable (renewable) energy. It has been estimated that the heat of the centre of the earth may reach 6000°C. It has been found that the increases one degree °C for 30-50 meters. The word geothermal is derived from Greek language where the first syllable “Geo” means “earth” and the second syllable “thermal” means “heat”.
How it works
The geothermal energy should be made useful through electrical generators. We are not free to dig anywhere to male benefit if the geothermal energy. There are only limited number of hot areas in the world that may benefit of their locations such as Iceland and some places where it is possible to dig deep to find steam or hot water coming from underneath. This steam or the hot water is directed to move big turbines to produce the electricity from generators. The water circulates in a cycle. When it cools off, it is pumped back through holes or the wells to be heated up again and to come up hot or as a steam and so on. The first of this kind has been built in Italy. Uses
There are other uses for the geothermal energy. Like in Iceland the hot mineral springs are used for medical purposes to treat skin diseases. Spas of this kind are also used to attract tourists, and to enjoy hot baths. In Iceland and may be some other a like the geothermal energy is harnessed to warm up houses and markets etc. In New Zealand they made benefit of energy of earth and some similar places in California.
Advantages
The geothermal energy is better than some other kind of energy especially the fuel the charcoal energy that pollutes the sphere. It is quite clean and does not need big places for storage.
The power stations are not taking vast areas and the electricity can be sent through cables and wires and very distant areas.
The pumps that are used to inject cold water back to earth can use the thermal energy itself to work and do not need any fuels to burnet.
