Gettysburg Address Turning Point
When bringing up moments in history you can probably think of tons of moments right off the top of your head. There are events that are much more important than some though. One moment in history that I think is important is, the Gettysburg Address. Why is this an important moment? It is important because of all the soldiers that died, it relates to other important moments, and is short but one of the most meaningful documents to Americans. Many things have happened in American history. The Battle of Gettysburg is what most will say the turning point in the war. It’s just that Lincoln did not really take the win as a win when he found out the staggering number of deaths. In just three days, fifty-one thousand soldiers died. How is this not important? Fifty-one thousand soldiers died in just three days, for everyone to be able to be free. People dying is not something that anyone should forget. Especially when it happened at such a crucial time making it the turning point in the war. Which leads into my next topic, it relates to other moments. …show more content…
Some people who haven’t read it before probably do not know much about it obviously. This is not something that only Abraham understood being the one who wrote it. It all starts with the declaration of independence. From there, there is The Gettysburg Address. Last, M.L.K. or Martin Luther King, I Have a Dream speech. All these men understood what each other was trying to do for our country. Lincoln new what Jefferson was trying to say, then King realized what Lincoln wanted.
