Give Up To A Community Research Paper
If everyone isn’t getting a long should it even be called a community? If makings self sacrifices is what makes a community better then that’s what should be done. When you look at something as big as a country like The U.S.A and something as small as your homing area you can see clearly how much freedom someone must give up to make things better for the people around them.

In the United States where it is a melting pot of different cultures a lot of people must give up personal freedoms everyday. Since everyone believes differently and have different preferences, they have to put all that aside to make things better for everyone. Different communities don’t get along because of their own people not wanting to get along. The United States is a community, yet we are all still so divided. The reason is because people don’t want to give up individual sacrifices of hatred towards one another. Like Buddhism you must give up something in order to be truly happy.

At home I know my small unit of family have to give up some freedoms in order to live peacefully among each other. Like my family, I’m sure millions of other people will agree with me when I say when one person does their part to maintain the household everything will be okay. Like our

You don’t have to, but you should. If someone is making your community miserable because of something they continue to do. May that be by spreading rumors about a different community, slurring hate words, or just something as small as not doing chores, whatever the case may be you would want something to change. Instead of bringing everyone (apart of the community) down, you should be trying to raise it to a good position. You can simply try to ignore the fact that something is wrong, but trust me. It will come back to get you in the long run because nothing can fall and be

A community is a place where people around supposed to be able to live and thrive together. When one thinks of a community, the image that most likely is visualized is one of a place where each person lives harmoniously with all the other members of that community. While this may be the typical image of a community, it is not the realistic view. In reality communities can share both good and bad aspects. In Place Matters: Metropolitics for the Twenty-First Century Peter Dreier, John Mollenkopf, and Todd Swanstrom make the argument that the place a person lives ultimately matters over all else; the place which a person lives effects the choices that that he/she makes and determines his/her ability to obtain a high quality of life.…

Scott Peck, author of The Different Drum: Community and Making Peace, describes community as "people living together in both freedom and love." Communities cannot be formed around people (individualists) who are busy satisfying their own needs first and who are not willing to work hard to make love work. Upon entering this class I realized that a community is not an automatic thing. It does not just appear out of thin air. A group must work together to build bonds between each other. The community in which we are trying to build upon is compiled of many different types of people varying in age, race, sex, class, career, etc. It is going to take some time to build the trust, communication, freedom, and love that we need to form a community.…

America was formed by outcasts from every region in the world. Many sought religious freedom and others escaped from trouble at home. As a nation full of the unwanted we do a lot to make others feel ostracized. The Jim Crow laws, which were in place in the south for almost a century accomplished the sole goal of separating African Americans from the rest of society. During the onset of World War Two we incarcerated thousands of Japanese Americans, because of their heritage. We have a history of making every effort to prevent change and divide this nation. All of this is simply evidence that this problem has existed between races and communities, since this nation’s founding. Today, however, it is unacceptable to target other races and as a result we have turned our focus to within our communities.…

The First Amendment grants Americans the ability to express "unpopular views" in all forms of communication such as newspapers, television, radio, and even in the classroom. I believe the U.S. is based on all types of religions, beliefs, and values. Since our country is so diverse, it is hard…

The country that was once unified is now divided. How did it come to this? Though, there are several possible answers to this question, one stands out in particular, political correctness. The Oxford Dictionary defines political correctness as “The avoidance, often considered as taken to extremes, of forms of expression or action that are perceived to exclude, marginalize, or insult groups of people who are socially disadvantaged or discriminated against.” Even though there are times in which political correctness is needed, more often than not, political correctness is over dramatized. The American society has become so politically correct, that no one is able to speak their mind without facing major judgment or…

When the first people came to America they came for freedom of religion. This people are known as Pilgrims, Puritans and the Quakers. They had hope that in a new nation they could have freedom for what they wanted and what they believed. “Nothing is more wonderful than the art of being free, but nothing is harder to learn how to use than freedom.” says the author of Democracy in America written by Alexis de Tocqueville When this new nation was created we founded ourselves on the idea of freedom and equality for all people. For our Declaration of Independence says “We hold these Truths to be self-evident, that all Men are created equal, That they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness.”…

The United States is a free society in which the rights of each individual citizen are protected by the Bill of Rights. Although we have many freedoms, there are still times of disagreement with the government. Everyone has different viewpoints and opinions, so what seems just to one person might be deemed as unfair to another. During times of disagreement it is best to have peaceful resistance because this prevents mass violence from arising while still promoting a different opinion to be taken into consideration.…

Society tends to believe that attending to college is something that everyone should do in order to live a successful and prosperous life. After doing research about the benefits of college, read different perspectives and opinions of different authors my view about college has changed. A lot of kids think that in order to get accepted into college you need to have perfect test scores and an exceptional gpa but that’s not true. Angel B. Perez in the article, Want to Get Into College? Learn to Fail, asserts that college admission officers want to get to know the student applying outside of his/her academic history. That means that if you are eager to learn you can get into college and by attending to college you are going to expand your mind, gain more knowledge and be a successful person.…

However we aren’t the only country to have freedom; the United Kingdom, Canada, and Australia are just some of the many other nations that also enjoy freedom. But the real question is, where do these rights end for an American? An American has their own voice, but the freedom of speech leads to the creation of stereotypes along with discrimination. This is where the concept of an American becoming a hypocrite kicks in. The idea of equality can never be made a reality with individuals treating each other the way they do now. The division among social groups whether it’s by race, religion, gender, economic status, or physical appearance, is unacceptable and the stereotypes only causes tension and for these groups to become more divided and separated from society as a whole. How can the United States boast its diversity, when the diversity of its people calls for tension and lead to a fragmented nation, and contradicts the name of the country itself? When will the American people become united once again just as they did during the Revolutionary…

This is usually in reference to the people but it can also be used for the religions that are in America. With the freedom to act however you please, you are allowed to marry whoever you want. This sometimes joins two people with separate religions together. If both parents are devote, it can lead to a child to grow up with a mixed religious view(Putnam and Campbell 149). There are other times in which the child will break away from the faith of the parents to another faith or none at all. With the freedom to practice any religion you like, it also allows those how are unhappy with their current religion to create a new one or someone who has experience multiple religions to create a new one based on what they consider to be the best aspects of them. There are other times where a new person joins or someone who left the faith to come back, these tend to be more involved in the community due to the newness or the revival of faith. Sometimes, these members will bring a point of view that members who have been in the faith all their lives will not consider or even have come in contact with it. Slowly, this will change the religion is the member is n influencing member of the community, it will no longer look like the original faith, creating a new…

We see these freedoms as non-negotiable since we are born with them and a person cannot be stripped of these natural rights at a later date. These views come from the colonists in America fighting against unfair rule by the British who they believed infringed on their natural rights as human beings. America gained independence and based the government on these values being non-negotiable. Although we see these as non-negotiable natural rights in our country not every country in the world agrees with us. We are incorrect to impose these values on foreign cultures even if it might help that country. If they are not supportive of these values then they should be left alone as long as they don’t try to force their values on anyone but their own country. Forcing American values on foreign cultures is not consistent with America itself. America is a large country with a diverse population of different races and cultures. You are free to live how you want as long as you don’t infringe on other’s freedoms. By trying to force American values on foreign countries we are being inconsistent. By forcing our sense of values or right and wrong on other parts of the world we can end up hurting our national security, for example, ISIS being formed after we tried to push American values in that part of the…

    * The United States is a melting pot of many cultures, races and ethnicities. I have learned that each group has differences and many similarities. With these differences they have taught me to be tolerant and accepting of them. By embracing the differences through our diverse society, I have learned new concepts of living, new ways to think, and have been introduced to a variety of foods that I have enjoyed. It seems in the end many of the groups that are so different have a common interest which is to love and be happy. It would be beneficial to our society if we would focus on the main interest of all, rather than focusing on how different we are from one another. Focusing on the differences and judging others based on them is something that was done in the past upon realization that closing the opportunity to learn about other cultures was hindering me in life.…

What we define as a prosperous and successful society can be accurately in statements such as the Greek proverb of "planting trees for shade we shall never sit in". This is to say, that truly showing our prowess as magnificent human beings can be categorized in the endeavors of others, our fellow man. The fact that we, as individuals make this choice out of our free will to help and provide for one another is a beautiful sentiment that etches into our history and our souls as prosperity. However, there is also the discussion of choice when it comes to the notion of community service. Should this be an optional endeavor that individuals alone should have the governance over? Or should it be a mandatory institution that forces us entirely as a society to help one another. This however, flies in the face of the idea of community service being a good deed…

Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy argues, “Free speech becomes a volatile issue when it is highly valued because only then do the limitations placed upon it become controversial.” Although I agree that America values free speech, I believe that the American citizen values only their own free speech. Appreciating my own free speech but no one else’s begins the endless cycle of an easily offended nation. Today’s culture utilizes free speech to stop free speech. When one person believes in marriage meant for a male and female and another believes in marriage for any mix of genders, who calls who a hater? Well balanced tolerance solves the problem of offending others, but only through patience . Society continually presents itself with contradicting views, as a part of human nature. Attempting to protect people from each other's views only opens the door to an easily offended population. It becomes effortless in a society of instant gratification to let narcissism take over. Once America loses the tolerance facet of citizenship, it allows everyone to offend each…
