When the first people came to America they came for freedom of religion. This people are known as Pilgrims, Puritans and the Quakers. They had hope that in a new nation they could have freedom for what they wanted and what they believed. “Nothing is more wonderful than the art of being free, but nothing is harder to learn how to use than freedom.” says the author of Democracy in America written by Alexis de Tocqueville When this new nation was created we founded ourselves on the idea of freedom and equality for all people.
