Giving is better than receiving, in my opinion.
If I had to choose between opening gifts from someone or giving gifts to someone, I would choose the giving. I like to give gifts more than receive them. I find it very enriching to have my family and friends enjoy the present that I gave them. The best joy of having my family and friends receive gifts by me is the expressions on their faces when they open the gifts. The main reason why I like gift giving is because of the reactions of my family and friends.

I put a lot of effort into finding the right gift for someone. The first thing I do is look through my craft books and decide what I am going to make. Depending upon the holiday, I usually get ideas from that holiday and from the individual's personality. The next thing I do, when I am looking for gift ideas, is find out what they like. If they have something they really like, I will try to make a gift around that. For example, my mom loves the Buffalo Bills. Last Christmas, I made my mom a Buffalo Bills sign for her driveway.

My favorite holiday for giving gifts is Valentine's day. The reason this is my favorite holiday is because it gives me a chance to show my family what they mean to me. The hearts on Valentine's Day, symbolizes love. I give a lot of heart of chocolate out to my family and friends because I tell them "With this heart, I love you." I show them by giving them gifts on this holiday and telling them how much they mean to me. It is worth seeing the joy and appreciation that they feel for me because it is seldom that expression, in my family, is shown.

Receiving gifts are very uncomfortable for me because I am very shy. I especially feel shy when I do not think I deserve the gift. For example, my father gave me a brand new guitar for my birthday. My thoughts were grateful, hoever, I felt that it was too much for a gift. I felt awkward because he spent so much on me. I don't know if he realized, but I would have been happy with just new strings for my old guitar.

The reactions from my friends and family when they open their gifts are very rewarding. The reaction that my mother gave me whan I gave her a dozen red roses on Valentine's Day last year was worth doing it all over again. All she said was "Thanks," but the look on her face was a huge smile. My mom also shed a few tears. My mother was very appreciative and surprised too.

In conclusion, I think that making people happy with gifts is the greatest joy. I believe that giving gifts is the greatest joy because it lets my family and friends know that I think about them and that I love them very much. I would not think of anything more wonderful than to give them that joy.

and I bought her a very expensive mother’s ring with all her kids birthstones and when she first got it she loved it, but once the excitement wore off and the holiday spirit left, she removed the ring and placed it on a shelf when it still sit today, years later. Another Christmas I paid for me and my mom to take an art class together for fun because we both like art a lot and that experience and one on one time is still appreciated today and the fun time we had is still talked about even though it is a few years later. Giving (verb): to freely transfer the possession of (something) to (someone); hand over to. When one gives to someone or does something special for someone, it is a win-win situation. In fact, the feeling of happiness is always mutual in those cases. No matter how big, small, concrete, or abstract the act of kindness is, it will go a long way nevertheless. The winter season - that is, the season for giving - is approaching, and it is a great time to “kick off” the amiable gestures for family and friends now. For me, personally, I would like to help cook a tasty dessert for my family to marvel over.…

The tradition of gift giving did show up in colonial America, with an interesting twist. People gave gifts to their dependents, whether it is to servants, apprentices, or children. People did not return the gift giving to their superiors. And the gift giving was not the elaborate ordeal that it is today. Each recipient would most likely receive one special treasure. And the gifts were more treasured than they are today.…

In the article “Is Regifting Rude?” there are two contrasting points which both brings out reasonable statements. For instance> the author is right when he states that regifting can be hurtful to the original gift giver because once someone decides to make you a gift it’s because you mean something important to him/her, he/she cares about you no matter what the physical value of presents may be. It’s unfair taking a present you received with so much love and give it to someone else because you don’t need it or like it.…

The thrill of Christmas eve is followed by a nearly sleepless night full of curiosity and hope. Each and every child lays in bed wondering what will be under the tree on Christmas morning. Most kids have an idea of what might be received because of what was put on the Christmas list but there is always a few gifts not on the list that turn out to be a favorite of the receiver. Then again, there is always that one crazy great aunt that is seen once a decade at family reunions that sends a thoughtful but wacky and usually tacky gift that is laughed at more than used. The gifts received are almost always placed into categories by the child, or any recipient for that matter, the must have presents, the surprise presents, and the off the wall crazy presents.…

One gift that I know would make a world of a difference is to help donate shoes to the needy. Soles 4 Souls, which originated in Nashville is a nationally known charity that collects shoes from various places. Soles 4 Souls has a simple concept that is: “We produce shoes and get them to those in need.” Wayne Elsey is the founder and CEO of Soles 4 Souls Inc. Never had he done this type of work before, until one day after the tsunami in 2004 hit Southeast Asia, Wayne was watching TV when he saw a picture of a single shoe washing up on the beach. Viewing that image on the news, he thought of a great idea and called some other executives in the footwear industry and the subsequent donation of a quarter of a million shoes to victims in the devastated countries. This unique charity helps those people in need, regardless of ethnicity, religion, social class, or any other criteria. Thanks to these donations over 125 countries have been distributed shoes including Kenya, Thailand, Nepal and the United States as well. But Soles 4 Soles cannot do this alone. This is where large donations from shoe manufacturers, retailers, nonprofit ministries, schools, and average individuals have helped make this a full-time organization. Seeing how much of a difference one guy has made has opened my eyes and has helped encourage me to notify those around me and my fellow Neighbors help those in need. Not only is it a tax write off, but it can help change someone’s lifestyle and encourage them never to give up. One thing I always keep in mind and find motivating is that it is good karma to help others and to just try and live a positive lifestyle.…

Returning to why the simplest gifts are usually the best leads us to some particular intersecting discussions. Yes, we have established that the effort taken to make a gift is probably proportional to the love the receiver will have for it. Yet, this is probably truer today than it ever was. Monarchs are historically more renowned for receiving priceless jewelry. Alliances between nations and sometimes mercenaries were forged on a cleaning surface of a gold coin. The Trojan horse, possibly the most famous gifts of all time was no humble off rank yet today we can bring smiles to the face and tears to the eyes with a simple crafted card. Reasons for this are no doubt complex but I would think that one of the…
