Taking the Global Readiness Index for the first time I thought it would be beneficial for me to first understanding the concept of global mindset, differences between the multiple viewpoints of what constitutes a global mindset. To me it seems that a global mindset is a way of being rather than a set of skills. It’s an orientation of the world that allows one to see certain things that others do not. This could mean the ability to scan the world from a broad perspective, always looking for unexpected trends and opportunities that may constitute a threat or an opportunity to achieve personal, professional or organizational objectives. My global mind-set score was a perfect score of five, which I believe is in part due to my individual personality and experience. I’m not someone who tents to hold fast to one way of completing a task, rather being in the Military has thought me to be more flexible and open to different ways of thinking. An international company in today’s world needs effective individuals who can understand the importance of learning more about cultures outside their boarders. Companies are requiring top management to understand more about people from different nation and different culture and not to underestimate the value of cultural awareness. “Global leadership competencies” From what I have learned in chapter 3 and chapter 4, I was able to complete the assessment portfolio in Global Readiness Index and measuring my result. The issue of global readiness index is measuring the phase an individual understanding to the world culture, working condition, its link to the emotion, attitudes and jobs satisfaction of other country and leadership challenge.
