Argument essay
Over the past couple of decades there has been an increase in the carbon footprint. There have been a couple attempts to improve the climate change, but the heat just keeps rising. On June 1, 2017, president Donald J. Trump, announced he would pull out of the Paris Agreement, claiming it was "unfair at the highest level to the United States."(2017) Unfortunately for our nation, climate is still going up, and what little protection exists is fading. The US should rejoin the Paris agreement and take some steps to slow climate change.
If you don’t know what global warming is then here is a quick summary. CO2 and other greenhouse gasses rise up into a layer in our atmosphere called the ozone layer. When
the sun's hot rays hit earth they bounce off and into this ozone layer, this heat would normally return back into the cold abis labels space. The problem on hand is when fossil fuels are burned up they release gases into the ozone layer that make it too thick for the natural reflected sun rays to pass through, this leads to a very hot blue plant.
Climate change is on the rise. There is little to deny that, even the United Nations agreed that “Climate change is undeniable”(2017). NASA has a lovely little map of global warming from 1884 and a more current one from 2016.
This map clearly shows the dramatic increase in temperatures around the world, especially in Greenland. Both NASA and the United Nations agree that global warming is on a dangerous incline and we as a human race need to own up to our mistakes. Now dear reader I know what you're thinking, how does this affect The United States of America?
Well as it so happens, the trapped heat here on earth affects every living creature. The recent heat wave this summer is the perfect example, thousand of wildfires erupted from North America, and hundreds of US citizens lost their homes. How could this be all America’s fault?
America is not the big leading factor in global warming, China make up “about 28 percent of all CO2 emissions”, but America does make up 16 percent.(Amanda MacMillan 2016)
Safety and well being should be the main goal for the US government. How can a single person argue the fairness, when what is truly unfair is taking away other countries chance for a united stance on a climate control. A country as strong as the united states should be leading the way to a safer and healthier living.
