The winter is one of the most common ways a fish dies. Since some fish die in the winter, this will not be prevented because global warming causes more snowstorms but not as much freezing ice in the winter. According to the Department of Natural Resources, Northern Michigan is the most deadly lake in winter that kills fish in the United States. According to the Department …show more content…
of Natural Resources pollution had also killed many fish and so has zebra mussels. Another thing that kills fish during the winter is spear fishing, it kills mostly big fish like musky and pike. Ice melts on Minnesota lakes faster in the spring which can kill the fish. Since the 1970s the average growing season has gotten several weeks longer and colder below 32 degrees. Between the 1960s and 1980s, about three quarters of the state got 20 centimeters less than the average amount of snow of the last decade, which also made ice melt faster in April and the fish didn't adapt to the changes right away.
Minnesota has had some record breaking temperature that have increased in the last 30 years. In the year of 2014 Minnesota was warmer than normal there. According to mprnews.org "Minnesota temperature has been rising almost a third of a degree per decade since 1970." This goes to show that this affects everything from Fish population rate to how the Waters are rising and ice is melting. Carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is what helps us in our day to day lives, it has reached its highest level in at least 800,000 years. That just shows how us humans have only been on earth for a little while and we are already destroying the earth. Last year, President Obama announced an agreement with China to deal with carbon emissions, and they are trying to get India to do this as well. Since 2007 scientists have advanced research with health and environment to reduce carbon emissions. Since then leaders of farming, business, and government have been adapting to global warming to prepare for impacts for global warming that could cost billions of dollars.
Most Global warming is taken place in the winter but affects the summer most.
Even though the temp has gone up about 2 degrees this causes big rainstorms. In Minnesota in 2012 lots of home were damaged by flooding from lots of rain in Duluth Minnesota. In the south of Minnesota many crops and lakes got soaked by the rain and it polluted lakes with sewage. 3 of the 5 biggest rainfalls in Minnesota have happened throughout November-March in the past 14 years. 15 inches of rain fell in 2007 in the south area of Minnesota. In 2012 Minnesota spent money on flood aid relief about $450 million. Researcher Ken Kunkel of the National Climatic Data Center in North Carolina reported "37 percent more rain falls in these big 2½-inch-plus storms than did 50 years ago in Minnesota." In the eastern area of Minnesota they get about 30 inches a year and is more than double the amount they used to get a decade ago. In June of 2014 it was the wettest since a century. Minnesota's gets on average 20 inches of rain a year, but part of eastern Minnesota gets about 30 inches a year and is the most common place where floods
happen.
Minnesota winters have been negatively by global warming making them shorter but making the summers longer. Also because of this more rain is falling in Minnesota which leads to flooding. One way we can prevent this from happening is by using less electricity like turning off the lights when we're not in a room.. Another thing is that these Minnesotans are enjoying this hot weather by what they don't know is that eventually it will get too hot. Many Minnesotans have not noticed this as a problem and they need to take action to prevent this from happening
