Angle: The proper way to break in a baseball glove
Purpose: To inform people on the proper way to break in a baseball glove.
Thesis: Proper breaking-in not only gives you a great product, it actually can extend the life of the glove. Today I’d like to share with you the proper way to break in a glove.

Today I’d like to share with you the proper way to break in a glove. 3. Reason to listen: You may need to break in a baseball glove someday for yourself, a sibling or even child. 4. Preview of main points.
A. Apply conditioner to make the glove more pliable.

B. Play catch to break in the leather

C. Store the glove to shape the pocket

D. Repeat process throughout the life of the glove
Transition: Today I’d like to share with you the proper way to break in a glove.

Body

I. The first step to breaking in a baseball glove is to apply a conditioner.

A. First choose what conditioner you are going to use.

i. There are 3 types of conditioners.

a. Foam

b. Oil

c. Cream

ii. Besides these conditioners listed, there are some treatments that you should never use.

a. You should never use water

b. You should never use a heat treatment

B. Prior to applying the conditioner, make sure the glove is clean by wiping the glove with a damp cloth

C. Apply the conditioner with your hands or a sponge evenly covering the entire glove

Transition: Then it’s time to shape your glove.

II. The second step to break in a glove is to shape the glove

A. place a baseball/softball in the pocket of the glove

B. Wrap the glove with a bootlace or rubber band
