One of the most useful resources for ideas were the Fashion weeks, showing collections of famous and up and coming designers in New York, London, Paris and Milan. The most coveted pieces, cuts, fabrics and colours were noted and further observed on reputable websites / such as Vogue.com, Style.com and Wsgn.com. /and in magazines / Vogue, InStyle, Glamour, Bazaar etc. /. The blogs of well-known fashion bloggers were also visited where the feedbacks from the readers were examined carefully. This provided an essential insight into the mind of the customer and helped predict their future reactions to the trends that were to be developed. A survey was conducted amongst high street shoppers to pinpoint the biggest competitors and get to know the base customers` habits so the company could plan successful targeting. Textile trade fairs confirmed the choices made for the seasons` prints and fabrics, also enabling Miss Selfridge to collect unique, affordable additions to its range and at the same time follow the styles invented by reputable fashion designers.…

With this opportunity, Heather would be making the best use of the changing trends in the clothing style of professional women who are looking for new stylish, yet professional looks for the workplace. This is a great opportunity for Heather because of the large potential for growth in this fragmented industry and because of the large market segment with almost $5 billion in sales. The short selling cycles (5 cycles per year) make sales and profits very volatile, and the firm could obtain high yields within shorter periods of time, but if the products are not to the customers’ liking, the company could be left with a large sum of unsold inventory.…

    Object Analysis - Corsets

(Choose a garment, which can be used to discuss fashion from the point of view of the consumer. This garment must be able to demonstrate how the consumer individually constructs their identity and conveys that identity through the style and styling of clothing. You should treat this garment as an object as a form of evidence, which can help you to explain theories of fashion discussed in the sessions. The intention of your analysis is to examine the ways in which we can ‘read’ objects and images, understand their meanings and explain them in the context of broader theoretical and social concerns. You should aim to be as analytical as possible. You may want to use further objects or garments or examples within your presentation to help to explain your ideas though only 1 object should be your main focus. You can either use the actual object or use images and films to analyse and discuss your findings. Therefore your essay should be supported by ideas from readings and books as well as the objects and images themselves.)…

The fashion industry is one of the most competitive industries in the world: sought after products and coveted brand-name garments can be “in” one season and just as quickly “out” the next. It is one of the most difficult industries for a new brand to successfully penetrate, as the top tier of respected and recognized designers have built their brand equity through many seasons of impeccable looks and styles that consumers have come to demand. Tory Burch LLC, however, made the feat seem easy in 2004 when the start-up brand stormed the women’s ready-to-wear apparel scene and introduced their luxurious, yet affordable, line of clothing. Selling out its first shipment in a matter of weeks, Tory Burch LLC set the tone for its furious rise in the fashion industry.…
