Try to connect with a couple students in your classes. It's hard to talk to people you don't know, but the benefits are worth trying. Having someone to exchange information with will come in handy if you had to miss a class. Your study buddy may also become a cherished friend outside of class too.…

It was a struggle, but the more time on this day passed, the more experience I gained. It helped me learn more things and notice things that I did not notice before, helping me to help out the other bowlers. It also gave me more confidence; I felt like I could run the league again if needed, and I also felt like I could coach and help others improve their game even more so than when I started.…
In school we develop and build relationships with others on a daily basis in a variety of different…

Meeting people who I can learn and grow with is probably one of my most important goals here in GT1000 and college in general, because those people will probably be the ones who will be my lifetime friends. However outside of the social aspect, meeting people who are sharing my major is a great way to find people within my field. Especially since the mathematics program is very small, I feel as though we will be a tight knit group of individuals and all help each other reach our goals.…
My early social experiences have contributed to my development and affected my educational experiences in a productive way. Throughout my years in school, I was not a student that was outspoken or had a lot of friends. I felt that I did not have time for socializing because I wanted to make the best out of my education. However, I participated in a lot of social events when I was younger. Being a Girl Scout in third grade taught me how to be sociable and work together with other people.…
On the first day of school there’s always that one person you tend to spot in class that makes you think “I need to sit by them,” that is your ultimate school friend. A school friend is the friend that you only talk to at school; you guys never hang out outside of school but are extremely close. Similar to a best friend, except, you don’t get to see them outside of school for whatever the circumstances may be. I have plenty of school friends, such as my classmates, the person who get lost on the first day and asks me for help, and the ones who accidentally bump into me and start a conversation. I’ve had countless amount of school friends, I’m sure everyone has, and usually they end up become your best friend.…
As unusual as it can be processed, apparently students make friends from being in class amongst each other. Michigan State University researchers stated, “Students who take the same set of courses tend to get to know each other very well and focus less on social status, such as how “cool” someone is.” Also, “They’re also less likely to judge classmates on visible characteristics like race and gender” (Henion and Frank). Part of the study explains whether or not teenagers choose their friends based on race. Racial cliques are very common in this high school setting. Most of the time these racial cliques include individuals with the same mindset or physical appearance. However, this study indicates that students who are in the same academic…
I tried my best to fit in but arriving at a completely new area and having to make new friends was an extremely scary thought for me. I didn’t know anyone, I didn’t have any friends, and I felt isolated. All I wanted to do was go back to California to the familiar faces I left behind. As the year progressed, I was forced to break my shell and interact with others in my class gradually becoming more confident in myself and making new friends. The internal battles I had to endure in me becoming more social eventually taught me not to be afraid to build relationships. Learning this at an early stage was very beneficial to me because now I am not afraid to talk to complete strangers and even befriend…
The sport of bowling has a lengthy history packed with an evolution that has comprehensive rules; and is an indoor activity that has become one of the most popular sports in the world. It can easily be said that over 50% of Americans have bowled once in their lifetime, whether it was for a birthday party or on a date. However, many people bowl routinely without knowing anything about the interesting history of the game.…
The good thing was that it wasn’t just me who tried to have a conversation, they asked me questions all the time and we got really close from that day. Today they are my two best friends at school. It took me a little while to become not alienated at school, but I am so glad I came to The Northwood School. Bunch of really cool friends from all around the world, and it’s going to be a continuous experience that I don't think I will get anywhere…
