My Goals In GT1000 And College
“It is not what you know! It is who you know!”, this idea was drilled into me from the very moment I got accepted to college by my parents. Because both of my parents are in the business world, I take there advice to heart. It amazed me that even in my 4 month of being at Tech, I have seen what knowing the right person can do for you. That was one of motivating factors to take GT1000 and even coming to Georgia Institute of Technology. Which brings me to my first goal regarding GT1000, meeting people who I can learn from and grow with. Meeting people who I can learn and grow with is probably one of my most important goals here in GT1000 and college in general, because those people will probably be the ones who will be my lifetime friends. However outside of the social aspect, meeting people who are sharing my major is a great way to find people within my field. Especially since the mathematics program is very small, I feel as though we will be a tight knit group of individuals and all help each other reach our goals. Another one of my goals for GT1000 is to find out exactly what jobs I can pursue with this math degree. All I know is that I was in love with math and wanted to teach mathematics ever since I was 8 years old. However, I do not believe that 8 year olds should be making life decisions. Each alumna of Georgia Tech is uniquely qualified for any position, because over four years we were hard wired to solve problems from in the shortest amount of steps possible. I am actually excited to learn problem solving skills, because I get problems done. However, it takes me double the amount of time that it takes other people to solve the same issue.
