I have always believed that in order to achieve success one must be well prepared, which is why in the years that I have attended Greater Lowell I have worked my hardest to be prepared for whatever obstacles I face.In my Junior year I was faced with the challenge of being the only girl in my shop week. When the year began I contemplated switching to the other week so as to be with my friends. I
did not know anyone on my week and I also had very little knowledge on what we were learning for the year. What helped me complete my year successfully was being mentally prepared for the challenges I was about to face. As the year went on I pushed myself out of my comfort zone and managed to make friends and also learn a whole lot about programming. As time has gone by I have learned that being mentally prepared for every situation goes a long way. Being able to find a positive in situations that seems impossible drives one to work harder. Being in Greater Lowell has been challenging, from doing sports, to being in classes that seemed impossible to pass. I have learned to apply myself and ask for help when needed. I have had many hard quizzes and tests that I have been given, I would not have been able to pass these tests without being prepared by taking notes, and studying, and asking for assistance when needed. I have managed to not only pass but exceed my own expectations on tests. Being in an environment that has constantly challenged me has helped me prepare for the life that is awaiting me when I graduate.
The motto of the National Technical Honor Society is “Success Favors the Prepared Mind” this idea relates to my high school experience at Greater Lowell in copious ways. I have learned that researching and consulting with my peers and teachers helps me prepare for the opportunities I have ahead of me. From applying to colleges, to participating in Skills U.S.A and even doing sports I have mastered the art of preparation. The National Technical Honor Society motto applies to me because I am always prepared for all challenges I face.
