Baby Royale Goes To China

Task1
Demographic
Age
Our target market is infants from 2 months to 2 years. But the customers for these products are not infants but their parents. So we should be looking for new married couples (married for last five years) because young couples usually have infants. The average marriage age of first marriage in Chian according to the statistics of The China Post is 37.1 years for men and 32.3 years for women. This is quite high as compared to other countries and even Australia.

The chart published by the Census Department of China shows the population pyramid of China. We can see there is a huge population (approx. 0.5 billion) between the age of 30-45. According to the China Post website around 75% couples having a baby are between the ages 30-45.
This is huge population is a very good sign for a product because we have a huge potential customer base in China.

Income
China is quickly emerging as one of the leading economy of the world and the disposable income per capita is increasing quickly. This means consumers will have high buying power and this is a great signal for any new product that is being launched.

Occupation
There are various occupations in China. The people in rural areas are mostly farmers and some people work in cottage industries. In cities and towns there people have various occupations but large majority of the workforce is skilled working in industries. Although the wage rates in nominal terms are not very good as compared to Australia but the living is very cheap in China. Baby Royale can be sold with the same quality but lower price in China because labour cost is very cheap.

Geographic locations
The large cities of China e.g. Shanghai and Beijing will be the places where the product should be launched initially. These cities have high population and higher standard of living. We can see in the figure below that large cities have high income levels and of course

China’s economy has grown substantially since 1960. The population of the second largest economy in the world shot up by 73 million people over the past decade. New data from the National Bureau of Statistics show that of China’s 1.35 billion people, 51.3% lived in urban areas at the end of 2011. In the past five decades and more, major industrial products have increased by dozens or even hundreds of times, and many industrial products have been sold all over the world. Since 1996, China has led the world in the production of steel, coal, cement, farm-use chemical fertilizers and television sets. As these industries increase, the area needed to…

Targeted advertising is advertisement that is placed to reach consumers based on various traits like demographics, firmograhpics, and behavior variables. These ads are ranked based on relevance which is determined by how often the ads were clicked on by the computer user. This was a push forward for the advertising industry because it provided valuable feedback to advertisers and helped influence selling. For example, potential customers who search for information on a topic will see these intrusive ads without them even having to search for a product or service. It will just show up based on their search. This can oppose a threat to newspapers and TV ad campaigns because this advertising eliminates the waste of most of the mass advertising being viewed by a vast audience with no interest in the product. The cost of TV ads can sometimes cost millions of dollars while it is only gaining maybe 100 new first-class customers. TV and newspaper ads cannot compete with targeted ads because they can effectively reach the audience they are trying to reel in while TV and newspaper end up spending more money for a smaller amount of people. These ads can be beneficial for only larger firm rather than firms with not a lot of awareness. If a firm is not well known, and people haven’t heard of the firm than it’s not worth it. It is desirable because it allows advertisers to determine user preference and purchasing habits. These ads are more useful to the consumers. The targeting of advertising can lead to higher profits.…

It is very well documented in books, newspaper articles, periodicals, and websites that Google has a successful corporate culture. In fact, by just looking at pictures of the Google campus online you can see that working at Google looks more like a playground, and not just a place for work. Consequently, the corporate culture at Google has definitely led to Google’s success. Google has people whose single job is to keep employees content and maintain productivity. It may sound too supervisory to some, but this is how Google operates (Bulgyo). Each year, Google gets over 2.5 million applicants. That’s equal to 6,849 per day and about 5 per minute – and Google reviews each one (Bulygo). What’s noteworthy is the logistics of each hire, but why they hire this way. Everyone is familiar with the crazy questions that Google might ask because of course it is Google. Everyone in the world of Information Technology wants to work for Google. Because of this competitive nature of getting into Google to become a “Googler” it is very competitive to become a new hire. But it is worth noting that the “people” Google hires are the valuable resource that makes Google so successful.…

Without a doubt the United States was brutal during their 14 years in the Vietnam War. There were times when our soldiers were commanded to shoot Vietnam civilians. Our second source tells us that they killed mostly women and children. Perhaps there were times when American soldiers could not tell a Viet Cong sniper apart from a civilian, but either way, there were around 5,000 civilians killed by the United States. There are a lot of veterans who have served in American wars who suffer from PTSD after they get home from battle. Post-traumatic stress disorder could be brought on by high intensity while a soldier is in battle, seeing a fellow soldier die, shooting enemies, and it is evident that shooting civilians can cause it as well. Veterans can get aggressive if their settings at home give them a flashback of a bad memory of war. A lot of soldiers such as veteran Bob Kerrey regret killing civilians and they have had to live with it for the past forty years. There are questions to whether or not the Americans are war criminals for killing these Vietnam civilians.…

One of the main factors is the fact that China has a high birth rate and a low death rate. This is due to a lack of family planning, a high level of infant mortality and increased sanitation. Some cultures also believe that it is unacceptable to use contraception’s (“China”). Other than the logical causes, there was also said to be an “Economic Project” which had increased the population to spark China’s economy. According to sources, “in 1978, China embarked on an economic project that liberated foreign trade and investment; encouraging the formation of rural and private businesses as an attempt to raise China's economy” (Harewood). This project ultimately led to people having more children as it was conducive to the…

China began trying to control its massive population growth in 1970 and introduced a one-child-per-family policy in 1980 -- an approach that ran into huge resistance and was "relaxed" after 1986. From 1971 to 1980, Skinner and Yuan found that 808,300 baby girls were missing, or about 8 percent of all girls born in the lower Yangtze region during the decade. About 81,800 boys, or 4.7 percent of the total, are missing,…

cer Inc. is a leading marketer of notebook and desktop PCs. The company, which posted sales of $21.3 billion in 2010, also produces other products such as the new Iconia tablet. As Taiwan gained a reputation as the “tech workshop of the world,” Acer became Taiwan’s number-one exporter. Stan Shih, the company’s founder, built Acer into one of Taiwan’s most successful companies. Despite Acer’s success, the company had trouble breaking into the American market. In the late 1990s, Shih noted, “In the United States and Europe, we are relatively weak. The local players there are very strong. The problem is that we don’t have good experience in marketing in those regions. It’s a people issue, not a product issue.” Shih discovered that building enterprise brands is easier than building brands in the business-to-consumer market. “Business-to-consumer brands have more value but also face more challenges. People involved in businessto-business are usually rational, but consumers in business-to-consumer are usually emotional in choosing their brands,” he said. In 2000, Shih refocused Acer’s distribution and marketing on the vast, fast-growing China market. He envisioned establishing a solid market base in greater China (mainland China, Taiwan, and Hong Kong) and expanding from there to the rest of the world. “The market in China is very critical for Taiwanese companies to become global companies,” Shih said. “Innovation is not necessarily related to whether you are smart or not. The reality is that if you don’t have a big market it’s not easy to innovate because the return on investment is too low. The potential of China is not just big markets and low-cost labor. Actually, it’s also for highly educated engineers or professionals.” Shih understood the need for Acer to develop a strong brand image in China. “The challenge for this region is really the poor image that is…
