A fairy tale life, every girls dream. That’s the life I lived. It was a life that most girls can only dream of. I was born on November 12th 1929 in Philadelphia. My family was a wealthy Irish family. I had two sisters and a brother. My mom was Margaret Katherine Kelly, My father was John B. Kelly, my brother John B Kelly Jr, my sister Margaret Katherine Kelly Jr, my other sister was Elizabeth Anne Kelly, and then their was me Grace Patricia Kelly. I grew up going to private schools throughout Pennsylvania and California until I got into the Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York in 1947.
I ended up being 5”6 almost the perfect height for a model. I modeled handbags. I began acting at a very young age. I was in 11 different productions
including To Catch a Thief. While producing that I learned that I would be playing a role with who soon would be the love of my life, Prince Rainier the III. We did fall in love even though it wasn’t love at first sight. When I first met him I couldn’t stand him, but that’s because I loved him. Shortly after the show had gotten done being filmed I moved to Monaco and became Princess. Prince Rainier and I then had three children, Caroline, Albert the II, and Stephanie our baby.
My daughter Caroline and I were driving home from our Country home as we got into a car accident. The stroke that I had caused me to drive off of the edge of a cliff putting me into a coma with severe internal injuries. Caroline my daughter survived, but I did not. I died on September 14th 1982 at 10:00 pm when my husband ended up having to pull the plug on me.
Even though I died at the age of 52 I lived the life I loved. It was a fairy tale and a dream come true. I miss my kids and husband everyday, but I am glad that Prince Rainier the II went on living 13 years after I passed away, and too my kids this isn’t goodbye this is only hello.
