Imagine… you are getting all dressed up for that big day. You get anxious and scared because it’s the graduation for eighth grade. You get all dressed up and put on your gown and cap. Then you arrive at the school. You sit in the assigned seat and watch the children before you get up and shake hands. You feel your hands get clammy as you wait. You wait till you hear your name and realize that it’s your time to shine. You stand up and hear the creaking of the harwood on your shoes. Then you feel your hands and wipe them down, but when you get up there you shine like a supernova. Everyone's eyes are on you. You realize that it’s your time to show who you are and time to reflect on your legacy here. A legacy is what you leave behind for people…

I am hoping that this class is extremely identical. So once again, my name is Cindy Wong and you just read an essay about my journey as a writer. I hope I was able to take you on a journey with my words into my viewpoints of various kinds of writing subjects that I learned about a couple years ago. I also included within this essay, my summary of “Inventing the University” by David Bartholomae which shows how much I have grown on the way when compared to my summary of “Shitty First Drafts” which was “shitty” compared to the one I just wrote. My writing journey will continue to be more vast and eye opening within this class and I hope to learn many new writing essentials that will be valuable in my…

When I first started this class I was very anxious about what to expect. I was hesitant and unsure if I am going to make it through, I doubted myself, every week I wanted to give up, mainly due to the fact as English is not my first language. As the class progressed, I felt more and more confident because of the different resources offered by the professor. Those resources were a very good aid in my writing. For example, in my first essay, the article written from the perspective of Donald Trump’s hair, played an important role in my decision of choosing a topic.…

EN101: English Composition I, was my first college class. With mixed emotions, both excited and nervous, I knew it was important for me to do well in the course as it would set the tone for all of my upcoming classes. So, with great determination to gain new writing and reading comprehension skills (and a little apprehension), I signed up. It is no secret, even as far back as my high school English days, I never liked anything dealing with punctuation and grammar. My reading habits, over 15 years after graduation, are still fairly poor. One of the greatest accomplishments in life, however, are overcoming your fears and strengthening your weaknesses. This course, week in and week out, has helped me with both of those goals. After reading over my writing from throughout the semester and comparing it to the course tasks, it is clear that I have learned a lot. My style of writing has greatly improved and finally, after years of disdain, my views of English and writing have changed.…

It’s hard to believe that my amazing journey in English 104 is coming to an end. The journey has been so much more enjoyable than I initially expected. I have tried to avoid taking English 104 numerous times because reading and writing have not been my strong points. Each time I attempted to take this course, I dropped it due to a particular instructor style, or a boring set of literary materials. This time around was different, as I set my goal to obtain my bachelor degree in Business Administration by the end of this summer. Therefore, I was determined to force my way through this class no matter what challenges I had to endure. To my pleasant surprise, this class was much better than the others. I felt the information and learning come much easier. I enjoyed the class materials and the professor did a very good job responding in earnest to my submissions. Because of the much better experience, I truly believe I have become a better writer and a better critical thinker. Through the discussion board and the professor‘s guidance of our writing assignments, I have improved my analytical skills as well as developed a greater organizational skills.…
