Question 1: Who are the Greek Gods and Goddesses?
The Greek Gods and Goddesses are mythical people. They were made up by Hesiod, a possible contemporary with Homer, At the centre of Greek mythology is the pantheon of deities who were said to live on Mount Olympus, the highest mountain in Greece. From their perch, they ruled every part of human life. Athena, was also referred to as Athene, and her Roman name was Minerva. Athena’s symbols are the olive tree, Olive trees, Snakes, Aegis, Armour, Helmets, Spears, Gorgoneion and her animal the owl. Her family is as full of 18 people including her. Artemis, Aphrodite, the Muses, the Graces, Ares, Apollo, Dionysus, Hebe, Hermes, Heracles, Helen of Troy, Hephaestus, Minos, Perseus, Perus.
Question 3: Did they help the people of Greece? Religion was important to the ancient Greeks because they believed that it would make their lives better while they were living. They also believed the gods would take care of them when they died. The Greeks believed that these Gods and Goddesses controlled everything in their lives and their environment. There was a God for everything in there lives. Happy Gods helped you, but unhappy Gods punished you. People had special places in there home they would pray to the Gods, and leave presents.

The main crops were barley, grapes, and olives. Grain crops where planted in October and harvest in April or May, olives were harvest in November through February and grapes were normally picked in September. Barley was the main cereal crop for the ancient Greek farmers. They made the barley into porridge or ground it into flour to make bread. Olive oil was used for cooking oil or in oil lamps. Grapes were primarily used for wine production, although they could be eaten or dried into raisins.

Ancient Greek clothing was typically homemade and the same piece of homespun fabric that was used as a type of garment, or blanket. Clothing for women and men consisted of two main garments-a tunic and a cloak. The peplos was a large rectangle of heavy fabric, usually wool, folded over along the upper edge so that the over fold would reach to the waist. It was placed around the body and fastened at the shoulders with a pin or brooch.
