The Greeks have a lot of myths reflecting the way we should live our life such as in the myth of King Midas, and Daedalus and Icarus. In the myth of Daedalus and Icarus, because Icarus decided to fly too high and not fly the “safe middle way” like his father told him, it resulted in his wings melting and him drowning in the ocean. Icarus not flying “the safe middle way” is representative of him taking extremes in daily life, and him drowning is representative of the consequences of taking extremes. Another example of this lesson can be found in the myth of King Midas. In that myth, King Midas wanted so much gold at once, he turned everything he valued the most into golden statues such as his daughter, his dog, and his food.
