Group Work

I agree with that a class should work in groups. During the groups working, I found many opportunities to structure interactive with each other. Teachers and students can earn a lot of benefits from this activity. Although, they might come from different countries and have different cultures, the goal is the same - to learn English better.
As a teacher, first of all, he or she can easier to get some variety responses and personal feedback in the group work. This is often not possible to get from the limit time of a whole class learning. Second, the teacher can easier to find out the student who needs help but he never ask for it. There are many reasons why students do not ask for help. Maybe he is too shy, or he doesn’t know how to ask, or he wants to skip this question. The problem can be easier to find out by teacher during the group work. Last of all, in order to get the best result, the teacher can give different topics to different groups. Because every group has different weak or strong skills, focus on those points, better appropriate topic earns greater progress.
As a student, he or she can raise more questions and points in group than whole class. Both the helper and the person who be helped are raised by group work. All members who have contribute for their team can get more ownership of knowledge than whole class learning. Everybody should have more critical thinking about the group’s topic. The students rise not only their explanation skill but also their social skills.
For these reasons, a class should work in groups. No matter we accept it or not, teamwork should be a part of college life. The groups’ work create a stronger social system; moreover, it sets higher expectation for students and teachers than the regular class.

Learning teams consist of a small number of students grouped together, and working together on assignments during the duration of the course. According to University of Phoenix, Inc. (2006-2013), “By relying on others and having others rely on you, you will grow your collaborative skills”. This team encourages successful performance results, but successful performance can be hindered if team members do not equally contribute and work together. A collaborative team environment is the key for the complete success of the team. A collaborative environment can be created if team members do the following; creating a team charter, discussions within the team, positive information, and equally take responsibility for portions of assignments. As a team, we shall address value of team collaboration as part of the Learning Team model.…

Initially, I had a negative view on group working because of the challenges that I had. When I was in high school, my five other friends and I used to work together in a music competition. Although we were supposed to get together to practice for the event, we were only able to meet up once a week. In addition to having a hard time with time scheduling, we often did not have a consensus of opinion. Whenever we had a discussion, we usually ended up with no results. So it always took a long time for us to make a decision. Consequently, the performance did not turn out as well as we expected. Because of this initial failure, I thought group work was time consuming and ineffective. However, I have changed my opinion lately because of the successful results in some of my laboratory classes. In each laboratory assignment, it is nearly impossible to work by myself because there are a lot of steps and each step needs to be very precise and accurate. Therefore, a group of two or three students will work more effectively compared to an individual because they can help to remind each other and finish the assignment faster. Based on those experiences, one more time I give myself a chance to work in a group and figured out how work effectively. Finally, thank to the Small group communication class, I found out that group work can become very productive if all the members in the group cooperate and follow the principles of small group communication. In this paper, I want to talk…

When effective group management and high organisation skills are applied, group work can bring students a wide range of skills and abilities related to people and problem solving. Group work demonstrates student’s capacity to communicate effectively, share and consider opinions, establish trust, analyse the group process, resolve conflicts and also develop their creativity. However, the constructive learning and beneficial results does not always come as a result of group work. For instance, if the students can not perceive the objective of the group work in order to achieve a common goal, or to lay back or believe that the work load can be relied on other members of…
