This means that since it is so easy for a civilians to get a firearm with no real benefit to stop the crimes, then by decreasing the amount of people with the ability to get a gun, it would end up being more beneficial. For example, none of the 62 mass shootings that took place between 1982 and 2012 were stopped by an armed civilian. This means that people that actually have a concealed-carry permit are not using it to help anyone proving that by limiting the amount of access to guns the amount of crimes will hopefully decrease. Gun activists talk about a specific scenario taken place in 2002 at Appellation School of Law where a shooting was stopped by students but these students were previously in law enforcement. This proves that people that are trained and know how to handle guns properly are the ones stopping gun crimes, not just regular armed civilians. Another quote from Evenson, “this is not 1880 where everyone is allowed access to a gun, that’s why there is more crime. There are too many ‘ good civilians’ who are bad with guns however.” Our country’s biggest problem is the easy access to guns and these civilians who have guns just because they have the right to are not helping.
