By Sam Casey Could we cure the mass gun killings in America by distributing a free, and very effective chill pill? Or is it just the insane people holding guns? The issues with the American Politics and gun control is that A- They don’t consider just putting guns in the hands of the right people, while taking them out of the hands of the crazy or simply insane. B- They don’t consider the already high homicide rate in America compared to other countries that do have guns. C- They also don’t realize the amount of entertainment and positivity that guns give us, like the whole wide-array of shooting sports, and hunting. Sane people should obviously the only people to carry firearms, which is something we can all agree to. Craig Whitney of The New York Times on July 24, 2012 wrote that, “...the only realistic way to control gun violence is not by keeping guns out of the hands of as many Americans as possible, but by keeping guns out of the hands of people we all agree should not have them.” You don’t really ever see sane people carrying out mass shootings. You also don’t see a mature man getting into deadly gang shootouts. This means that the American populace should accept the fact that we should not control guns, but we should control the people holding them. As a whole, Americans are just simply more violent. James Wilson of the Los Angeles Times wrote on April 20, 2007, recently after the Virginia Tech Shooting, that, “the non-gun homicide rate in this country is three times higher than the non-gun homicide rate in England. For historical and cultural reasons, Americans are a more violent people than the English, even when they can't use a gun.” This means that even if we put a chokehold on the gun-toting population, Americans would still somehow find a way to kill the person they want to.
We should rather keep our guns, and allow for the police to step in. Gun sports and hunting are one of the most popular hobbies in America today. The
