On March 23rd, 2017, Kendra Tew, a Community Assistant at The Varsity Housing, authorized a preliminary study that addresses the feasibility of introducing a Dunkin’ Donuts store in the vacant medium-sized retail space that is available near the main entrance of the complex as well as survey that indicates the number of prospective customers around the area. We have completed, to a reasonable extent, the first, second, third and fourth task of our major project: researching how to lease quality space in a privately…
Being active in National Charity League for six years, I have had the pleasure of working with many different philanthropies, my favorite being The Tualatin School House Pantry. Operating out of the basement of a church, the food bank helps to feed families in the community who are struggling financially. While my first few experiences at the food pantry were emotionally challenging, I found them to be very eye opening. I met many people from different backgrounds, yet they all shared the same hardship, the inability to afford food for themselves and their families. Wanting to do more for the recipients, I received training to be one of the personal shoppers.…
Also provided was a cost comparison of replacing these cheaper materials with material from Lowes (2010). A comparison of materials used for Oakwood homes (2000) versus Rockwell (2010) stick-built homes was shown. It was also stated and proven manufactured homes are not energy efficient. It was also explained what a big disadvantage and how difficult it can be for one to try to acquire a manufactured home loan; this showed how hard is it is for someone to try to resell one. Because of these disadvantages, it is proven that unless one is planning on a big financial commitment and plans on living in the home forever that people should not purchase a manufactured home. Goosens (2002) advises, before one goes and buys a manufactured home, one should consider the options of buying a higher priced home that will appreciate in value and last longer. When one is considering a manufactured home because these homes are cheaper and have more square footage, remember the disadvantages outweigh the advantages. Space is not everything and one needs to consider if the extra space is worth the extra costs that can be avoided by sacrificing a few square feet. People should ask themselves if they are ready for such a big financial…

Regarding the End Racial Profiling Act of 2015 (HR1933), I would like to express and provide an explanation of my full support of the legislation. As you may be aware, the End Racial Profiling Act would prohibit federal, state, and local law enforcement officials from engaging in racial profiling and cease any previous procedures that may have indorsed these activities. The bill would issue a grant to state and local law enforcement agencies to provide better training to its pupils, which would ensure the elimination of racial profiling from policing and other regulations. The bill particularly appeals to me because it addresses the widespread problem that has effected many communities and the nation as a whole.…
Habitat for Humanity originated at Koinonia Farm, which is a small Christian farming community located outside of Americus, Georgia. Clarence Jordan brought the idea to Millard Fuller, who is the founder and president of Habitat for Humanity International. They developed the idea of “partnership housing,” calling for families in need of a home to partner with volunteers to build affordable homes. In 1975 Fuller and his wife Linda established Habitat for Humanity with one clear vision in mind “a world where everyone has a decent place to live.” Habitat's ministry is based on the conviction that to follow the teachings of Jesus Christ we must reflect Christ's love in our own lives by loving and caring for one another. Our love must not be words only – it must be true love, which shows itself in action, this is the full forces that lead Fuller and his wife to establish this organization. Habitat provides an opportunity for people to put their faith and love into action, bringing diverse groups of people together to make affordable housing and better communities a reality for everyone. The idea of Habitat for Humanity is to work in partnership with God and people to build decent, affordable, houses in which people can live and grow into all what God has intended. The Fuller’s vision has become a successful reality that has presently helped build over 500,000 homes and helped over 2.5 million people worldwide. Habitat for humanity is operated based on two main sources: donations and mortgage payments of the homeowners. Donations generate from individuals, foundations, and businesses - their monies are used to purchase land and materials. The no-interest mortgage payments made by current Habitat homeowners greatly contribute to support the construction of additional Habitat homes. Some organizations such as Ameri-Corp may pay their volunteers with school courses and materials in return for their time.…
Everyday when I am driving to college, I see homeless people on the side of the road and I can't help wondering if there is any way I could help them out. Housing First is a program solely dedicated to giving chronically homeless and homeless citizens a home first, although this program is mainly intended for chronically homeless citizens it can also be used by homeless citizens. Chronically homeless citizens have been living on the streets for more than a year, and homeless citizens have been living on the streets for less than a year. Once they are settled in their case manager they were assigned, help them focus on getting a job or rehabilitation if needed. The program also reduces the amount of money the state spends on chronically homeless…
Habitat for Humanity International is a nonprofit, world-wide Christian housing ministry. Habitat for Humanity International seeks to eliminate poverty housing and homelessness from the world, and to make decent shelter a matter of conscience and action. “Habitat for Humanity works in partnership with God and people everywhere, from all walks of life, to develop communities with people in need by building and renovating houses so that there are decent houses in decent communities in which every person can experience God’s love and can live and grow into all that God intends.” Since its founding in 1976 by Millard and Linda Fuller, Habitat for Humanity International has built and rehabilitated more than 100,000 houses with families in need, becoming the world leader in addressing the issues of poverty housing.…
I have come to understand that I have an innate urge to help those more disadvantaged than I. I believe that God has placed this urge in my so that I can be an instrument of his will. We all have the potential and are called to me such an instrument and that calling comes in different avenues for each person. I believe that I have found one such avenue. I learned God understands and know the potential in each person and will task him or her with only the things they have the power to handle. I pray that as the years go forth and I enter into my professional career this experience and other experience will grant me the knowledge on how to create a nonprofit organization that will help the children of Haiti gain a proper education. I this yearning to construct something of that nature could only be placed in me from God and that’s how I know that I will be able to bring it into…

In my undergraduate years, I volunteered for Medlife. This club runs a healthcare facility project in Peru which wanted to install medical camps for deprived districts. This was difficult since we did not have sufficient funds. I suggested to organize fundraisers at the university and resourcefully send volunteer teams to construct mobile clinics…

Under1Roof Shelter wants to do just that. We know that kids grow up eventually so we welcome all ages to our shelter. Under1Roof Shelter would love it if you would help support our group and decide to make a change. We don’t want to pressure you so we want you to decide what you want to do to help. We know that this will be expensive but we still have faith, we have faith in you, and those who help. We really need a helping hand and we are asking you to help us with money ($5-10 million) so we can purchase food, a home, and personal products for the less fortunate. We ask that you bless not only us but the people in need of your…
