Historical Importance: The hamburger was brought to America in the late eighteenth century by German sailors from Hamburg, Germany to New York. The original name was Hamburg Steak. When immigration from Germany to America was big a lot of the people brought their favorite foods, and hamburg steak was one of the most popular.
Personal Importance: The hamburger is one of my favorite foods to eat. My favorite kind is a bacon cheeseburger. Just about every restaurant or diner, I go to I usually get some kind of hamburger, but the best hamburgers are the ones that my dad grills.

Whenever someone in my family gets a deer my grandpa takes some of the meat and gets it grounded into burger, and he makes jerky out of it.

Historical Importance: Around 1863, the first fish and chips shop opened just north of England. Fish and chips became so popular all around the UK, that during the second world war it was one of the only foods not to be rationed .
Personal Importance: When I go to a restaurant and don’t order a burger it is probably because I ordered fish and chips. I grew up eating fish, and it is one of my favorite foods. I would eat any kind of fish, but fried cod is one of my favorites, especially during the lent season.

Historical Importance: The first doughnuts were made in the mid-nineteenth century by Elizabeth Gregory, whose made a fried ball of dough for her son who was a ship captain. Her son claimed more credit because he is the one who put the hole into the doughnut.
