Life is a gift that we need to appreciate everyday no matter what your situation is. Misusing it will make you regret it later in the future and you will not be able to take that time back. In the excerpt by steve jobs from his 2005 Commencement Address at Stanford …show more content…
University he explored the division between life and death when he was ill. Steve Jobs himself writes, “Remembering that i’ll be dead soon is the most important tool i’ve ever encountered to help me make the big choices in life. Because almost everything-all external expectations, all pride, all fear of embarrassment or failure-these things just fall away in the face of death, leaving only what is truly important.” Steve job’s point is that when you are extremely ill, you realize that your days are counted. Your point of view in life changes completely. Becoming a stronger person starts when you begin to put value into your life and experience new things. But most importantly, worry about the most valuable things in life even the smallest simplest thing in the world. I agree with Steve job’s excerpt because I believe that when you face death it makes you a different person. It's a reality check for you to start living your life differently and wisely. According to The Power of Positive Thinking, Remez Sasson says “With a positive attitude we experience pleasant and happy feelings. This brings brightness to the eyes, more energy, and happiness.” What this quote is saying is that even if something bad is happening in our lives we should think positively about it and not negative. It doesn't do us any good if we think negatively it only makes things worse. We should make the best of our lives even if we are not in the best stage.
Many people may think that the end of their life is pointless, so they start to feel as if they are worthless. Let me tell you that it’s not true your life has more meaning than what you think . In Roger Ebert's view, “I was perfectly content before I was born, and I think of death as the same state. What I am grateful for is the gift of intelligence, and for life, love, wonder, and laughter.” In making this comment, Ebert urges us to see the bright side of life. The bright side of life to him is the energy he still has to keep pursuing his dream of writing. Roger ebert says, “But slowly the journal picks up steam, as Ebert’s strength and confidence and audience grow. You are the readers I have dreamed of, he writes. He is emboldened. He begins to write about more than movies; in fact, it sometimes seems as though he’d rather write about anything other than movies.” In other words, although Ebert had cancer he found what made him happy. He could not physically talk or express his thoughts, but he was able to write. That was his dream which is what made him live every day.
There are many ways that people interpret life, some may think that it's the best thing that could ever happen to them; others may think that it's the worse thing that could ever happen to them, being born.
In Hamlet's soliloquy, shakespeare says, “To sleep—perchance to dream: ay, there’s the rub,* For in that sleep of death what dreams may come When we have shuffled off this mortal coil,*” Hamlet expresses how you cannot ever escape your problems and cannot be solved. Even when you're sleeping you're not safe and cleared of all you problems. When you are dreaming in your sleep it's not very peaceful and happy, we have nightmares that won't let us be in peace. Many people may argue the same as hamlet, However I disagree I think that problems can be solved and looked at in different ways. You don't have to be depressed or fear of your problems. In the article 6 ways to Enhance Your Problem solving Skills, it states, “Every day you’ll be faced with at least one problem to solve. But it gets easier when you realise that problems are simply choices. There’s nothing ‘scary’ about them other than having to make a decision.” In other words There is always a solution to your problem whether its for the best or for worse. It is your choice whether you want to live happy and in peace by making the right decisions to a better
life.
In conclusion, life is something that you should be very proud of. That is why we need to appreciate every moment of it. You shouldn't let anything get in your way of happiness. Just because you are in a difficult situation or your days are counted does not mean that your life is over. Look at the bright side of it and make the best of it. Facing death makes your life worth more because you realize things that weren't important to you before; this helps you determine how to live for the rest of your life.
