Remembering my grandfather says: “It is never too late to learn!”, and I fully agree with that, I tried hard and sometimes in my pursuit of learning I took risky acts, like when I subscribed to the Library of the Embassy of USA in Sofia, Bulgaria during my high school years, to gain access to literature and science books that was not available or intentionally censored by the oppressive Bulgarian Communist government, and that act of mine almost cost the life of my parents.
During the Communist dictatorship in Bulgaria such act was qualified as an act of treason and the penalties was severe.
To put it in perspective, I studied with passion in my years of middle and high school, and graduate with high honors. Than I was forced to enroll in the Bulgarian military, the military service was mandatory at the time for all male Bulgarian citizens for two and half years. Regardless, that didn’t stop me to pursue more knowledge and continue self-learning in computer science (coding – Fortran and Basic), also Calculus and Statistics, continuing to study during the military service and prepare to apply for entry test with Technical University, Sofia, where I was
