I have worked and pushed myself through my high school career from taking all non honors classes my freshman year, to honors my sophomore year, to then most of my classes being AP my junior and senior year. I have worked hard to get good grades and pushed myself into taking classes that would not only challenge me, but put me out of my comfort zone. Yet I have always been a hard worker. My parents such as myself are immigrants, I had to work hard entering a foreign school system where neither I or my parents knew the language. Easy homework tasks were difficult to complete yet I worked hard to get at the level of my peers by checking out books at the library and forcing myself to attempt to understand the words on the page. I continued
to try to not lag behind and managed to get into the AIG program that was set in the Durham Public School system when I attended elementary school and middle school.
Ambitious
I would like to consider myself ambitious since I have seen my parents work harder than those who had a college education. I know how hard life can be without not only a high school degree but a college degree. I know I want to better my life by furthering my education and that would mean setting a high goal for myself and that includes getting into college. Setting this goals for myself has pushed me in working hard in my studies.
Perserveriant
Throughout my junior year and this senior year, I have persevered in finding ways to attend college. My mom is a single parent raising three kids, so financing college would not be the easiest thing in the world. As well as being an undocumented citizen has only to proved in making it more difficult in finding opportunities for finding colleges where I would be able to attend. I have persevered in working hard in my AP courses my junior year which were a high stress factor as well as taking all the required test such as the ACT, SAT, and SAT Subject test. I have pushed to find a way for me to be up to the level I should be in order to get into college. My parents didn’t go to college in their own country let alone this country making the whole college process very confusing and stressful. I continue to persevere in my studies in order to find a way towards a college education.
