Hari Raya
Every year, after one month of fasting, muslims celebrate Hari Raya. Me and my family as a muslim, Hari Raya Aidilfitri is a special day to celebrate after they have gone through fasting for a month from foods and drinks from subuh to maghrib. This festival will be celebrated for a month either. In Malaysia, we can see the muslims early prepared for the becoming sepical day. They decorates their house, buying new clothes, and makin many types of foods and cookies for the special days. We can see that shopping complex, groceries, and other shop will be crowded by the muslims as they were preparing to celebrate Hari Raya.

The night before the special day coming on 08 August 2013, as usual a lot of activities happen same as the other festival. I can see my parents will busy making delicious food, while my little sister and brother were enjoying themselves to playing fire crackers with other family members.

The house which located far from the town especially, which is a village, will be decorated with what we called ‘pelita’ around the house. Its has been found that such activites is a legacy. ‘Pelita’ is made up from people had invited a new kind of ‘pelita’ which is made from plastics that is safe to used.

Then I can see muslims celebrate their festival that is Hari Raya with a lot of joy and colourful days, same goes with other festival. Every festival have their own speciality. I hope from the coming years, Hari Raya will be celebrated more happening with happy mode.

Lastly, we as a muslim sometime each people in they house have celebrate about ‘open house’ as a closing the Hari Raya days. There many people coming no care how many until the foods and drinks or the cookies was finish. There have many neighbour, cousins, friends and so

The vast majority of Muslims are citizens of the United States, who abide by the law, and who do not support terrorist activities (Bell, 2007). In the United States Muslims worship in the mosque, even though the structures may not be the same as in other countries, the religious practices are the same (Smith, J. n.d.). American Muslims follow the same principles as in many other countries where Islam is practiced. In the United States at the end of Ramadan, Muslims celebrate “edi” which is like Christmas that is celebrated in the United States (Parbtani, S. personal communication, July, 23, 2013). According to Al-Karamali, Edi ul-Fitr means “Festival of Fast-Breaking”, the celebration involves a special prayer, gift giving, feasting, and wearing fancy clothing, however one old piece of clothing is worn to signify being humble followers. One of the traditional foods that American Muslims to this day prepare in celebration of “edi” is called sheer khurma which is a creamy like pudding made of milk, vermicelli noodles, and golden raisins, along with some pistachios (Ali-Karamali, 2008). The gathering at the mosque brought Muslims of different ethnic backgrounds to the feast, where all enjoy the various kinds of traditional…
