Harrison Bergeron Movie Analysis

Movies are usually adapted if the story was never originally created for the screen but they tell a similar story and try to relay a similar message. Kurt Vonnegut wrote “Harrison Bergeron” and this told the story of ow every was finally equal in every way and the people who weren't meeting the average mark they were given handicaps to level the playing field for all people. 2081 was produced by Thor Halovenrt and is a movie based on the story of Harrison Bergeron it follows the same premiums but there are some changes that take place during the movie. Halovent must have found it necessary to make these adjustment to the short story to better rely his interpretation of the text and allow the film to hold it aducine. Sometimes when adapting
a story to a play you must adjust to the social norms and that includes not crossing lies that could be deemed too controversial. The age of Harrison in 2081 was changed from being 14 in the story to being 20 in the short film. This changed I believed occur because the sensitivity of Harrison being shoot by person being only 14 years old could have be too sensitive for the public to find acceptable. Also the features of that Harrison has is not nearly as mountrus as Vonnegut tries to install he descried all lot more human even in his ies he has a much more refined beauty about him then some hulking monster needing to be destroyed. Then the biggest change to the movie the supposed bomb under the theater this I believe was to show the interpretation that Halovenrt got from the story. It was that being unique sould not be a crime because you're able to offer so much to the world because of it and with this it seems natural that one should embrace another person own strength instead of condemning them. Halovenrt show this by making Harrison bomb only turn the television back on the air so the masses can see what the beauty is and who is the really criminal in this situation. The person who has done the most harm is not Harrisons but the ones who regulate it all society was the enemy of injustice and equality.
