Hazards at my work place
At the University of the Southern Caribbean, I work in the House keeping department. This University is situated on many acres of land in Maracas, and has many different Schools, for example there is the School of business, Natural Sciences, Social Sciences, Theology, etc. There is also the Health Services, the Housekeeping department, finance, just to name a few. After investigating the five hazards categories/ environmental stressors at my workplace, these are my findings.

CHEMICAL HAZARD
Sulfuric Acid is used in the chemistry lab. Ths is a highly corrosive, dense, oily liquid, H2SO4, colorless to dark brown depending on its purity and used to manufacture a wide variety of chemicals and materials including fertilizers, paints, detergents, and explosives. It is also called oil of vitriol, vitriol. Sulfuric acid reacts vigorously with water to form several hydrates. The concentrated acid, therefore, acts as an efficient drying agent, taking up moisture from the air and even abstracting the elements of water from such compounds as sugar and starch. The concentrated acid also acts as a strong oxidizing agent. It reacts with most metals upon heating to produce sulfur dioxide.

Sulfuric acid is a liquid that is colorless and corrosive. Sulfuric acid is used with varying degrees of concentrations in manufacturing processes and in petroleum refining. When sulfuric acid is heated it decomposes into water and sulfur trioxide. Sulfuric acid is very strong and a great oxidizing agent. It reacts readily with carbon, sulfur, and metals when it is at high temperatures (The Editors of Encyclopedia Britannica, 2014).…
