Using the ADDIE model discussed in this chapter, design a training program that addresses the customer service expectations of walk-in patients in the emergency department. Include an evaluation process that answers the following questions:
“ADDIE model stands for analysis, design, develop, implement, and evaluation. It ensures that the how, what, why, where, who, and when of training are addressed” (pg. 140).
Analysis: Patients who are walk-ins are to be first checked in to see what their emergency is. From there a nurse will determine if the patient needs to be seen right away or be walked to the waiting room until their turn is up.
Design: If the patient needs to get blood work that will be done right away by a phlebotomist then they can wait in the waiting room. Patients will be divided into what their needs are: X-rays, ER room, admitted to the hospital.
Develop: Nurses will first see patient for checkup and history. Tech will take them to appropriate room when their turn is up. Make sure all patients have name tags and are given temporary relief if in pain have a migraine/headache, are throwing up, etc.
Implement: CNA’s will be sent to check up on patients in the waiting room to see what their status is. Make sure when rooms are available so the next patient is seen.
Evaluate: Give patients a survey at end of care to see feedback and allow us to see if we need improvement.

What method will you use to evaluate the knowledge transfer? I would use the survey method. “Survey method is a very effective method”(pg.142). This method allows me to see where I need improvement based on the sample of questions such as: patient safety, or conflict solution. Patient expectation survey at the Emergency room can improve patient satisfaction.
How will you know whether you met your training objectives? I will know if my training objectives are met, by getting the feedback from the surveys. By looking at the feedbacks,

Clear instructions will be given to these staff members to ensure that we have all the current contact and billing information and legible copies of all documents and claims are processed appropriately. With verification of all information, we should see a more smooth billing process and the correct plan codes being applied to the various…

Emergency room nurses firstly ask the patient what their chief complaint is upon arrival. The chief complaint labels the patient, and gives them a triage level based on the amount of resources needed to intervene. The chief complaint (or illness) is the nurse’s focus of his/her practice. The nurse also takes into consideration the need to educate the patient and his or her own readiness to learn. All of these factors help reach the goal of making the patient “feel” better and regain health. Below is a model of how nurses in the emergency room revolve directly around the patient.…

Hospital administrators need to work collaboratively with recruiters, nursing directors, and managers, to improve and support the work environment for nurses. This can be accomplished by involving the bedside nurse, hiring high-quality nurses, maintain nurse-two-patient ratios and provide nurses with equipment or resources needed to keep them employed and provide quality care to patients. The American Nurses Association recommends "stepping systems can only be effective if the direct care nurses who work on a specific unit have input the staffing system" (American Nurses Association, 2013). Another recommendations from the ANA that are instrumental and supportive of nurses are architecture and the environment of the work place, technology equipment and support, the level of experience of nurses providing care, and consideration to the severity of patients, last available support services and resources (American Nurses Association, 2013).…
