Health Behavioral Theory Paper
Understanding myself is important to analyze my behaviors and successfully judge my reaction to different situations that may occur. Let alone, my personal characteristics that makes me have these reactions, to the situations. Considering, the health behavioral theory that I have chosen to write about is, the Social Cognitive Theory. The Social Cognitive Theory is a theory deeply rooted from the behaviorism framework. The Social Cognitive Theory is, “based on the concept of reciprocal determinism”, which is the inventive interaction between personal factors, the environment, and behavior. Which bring me to introduce the behavior that I will be addressing in this self-assessment. The behavior that I have chosen to talk about is, my lack of …show more content…
The Social Cognitive theory includes the reciprocal determinism, the three factors include environmental, personal, and behavior factors. The results to our behaviorism can be either, a positive or negative consequence depending on environmental factors of modeling, and vicarious learning. As well as, personal factors dealing with self- efficacy, self-reward, self-regulation and more. Lastly, behavior is the results and decision of one’s factors. Therefore, that is why the social cognitive theory is also known as the Social Learning …show more content…
Self-efficacy being the most important of the SCT, mainly because it forms the basis of the Self-Efficacy Theory, and plays a role in the Health Belief Model and Transtheoretical Model. Self- Efficacy applies to my health behavior, physical activity, because, change comes from within and it is my belief that with planning I would be able to perform 30 minutes of physical activity each day. Therefore, with the help of social support who are preforming physical activity also, I can continue this behavior. Next, observational learning (modeling) is learning from watching others, because my family around me doesn’t perform daily physical activity, it causes me to model that same behavior.
