Smoking Cigarettes
Smoking cigarettes is a very hard habit to break due to the fact that tobacco contains nicotine, which is extremely easy to become addicted to. The smoker becomes super attached to the nicotine that they need to smoke regularly in order to just feel normal. Smoking is banned in almost all public places. There are usually designated smoking areas, so that people who want to smoke do not bother the other people that do not want to smoke, as much.
There are a lot of different reasons for why people start to smoke. Peer pressure from friends, following in other family member’s footsteps, or even just thinking that it is cool all could be a reason to why someone starts to smoke cigarettes. Indicators she that just about 9/10 smokers started before they were 18 years old. Smoking is an extremely hard habit to break and it damages the lives of many people around the world.
Short Term Effects
A short term effect is a result that occurs in a relatively short period of time. The short term effects of smoking could be anything from just bad breath or even withdrawal. Withdrawal is mental and physical warning signs that occur after stopping or reducing the intake of something. Effects of withdrawal could result in slower heart rate, extreme irritation when it comes to sleeping and daily activities or even depression. Along with withdrawal the immune system is weaker in smokers than it is in nonsmokers. This means that smokers can have a continuous cough and have a higher chance to catch bad colds and flus. Those are just some of the short term effects that cigarettes have on the users.
Long Terms Effects
Along with the short term effects that come with smoking there are also long term effects. Long term effects occur in a relatively long period of time. One of the major long term effects is cancer. Lung, throat, mouth and stomach cancer are some of the major cancers that can show up
